Anniversary Ribeyes

We recently had our anniversary and decided on some nice rib eyes for our dinner. I haven't done this in a while, but I splurged and got some beautiful Prime Rib Eyes from Costco. They were delicious and actually a couple of bucks cheaper than the latter part of last year. Here's some pic's.

Here they are. Will freeze the third one.

These steaks were 1 1/2 inches thick.

Seasoned with a little oil, k salt and pepper only.

Enjoyed a few of these!

Put on a couple of pretty good size bakers.

Steaks on direct, high heat, about 3 minutes a side. Sorry about the dark picture.

Got some asparagus going after moving the steaks over to indirect for about another 4 minutes.

All done.

Plated. A little garlic butter on the steaks.

Slice shot. Pulled the steaks around 130 and let them rest for just a couple of minutes.

This was a delicious meal and topped off a great anniversary. Thanks for looking.

Congrats to you and Mrs. Bartlett!

That is a fine looking cook, beautiful pictures, and a plate to die for. Apologizing for a "dark pic"? That action shot is the best pic in the series.

QUESTION:
Did you have a basket on each side for taters, then dump them, and add a chimney before steaks? It seems like a solid strategy...just wondering if it was on purpose or just how it happened.

Thanks for the comments everyone!

Luke.... Did the potatoes on my 22" OTS separately as they took about an hour and 15 minutes. Did a HH split zone on my JJ. Seared the steaks, then slid them over to indirect, and did the asparagus on the direct side.

Looks great. I did a similar thing Thursday. Cooked the potatoes on the 22" and chicken direct on the JJ. It's great having multiple tools (Webers :P) isn't it?

Cliff;
Happy Anniversary to you and your wife!!

After getting the JJ at a season end price from Target (bought it for it's portable possibilities) I learned what a great grill it is in it's own right. Now, I too, often use it instead of or along with my Performer. When I am cooking just for the wife and me, I often reach for the Jumbo Joe. I especially like it for high heat cooks and it IS plenty big enough for a very productive two zone fire as you mentioned.

Keep on smokin',

Happy anniversary, Cliff! That closeup cutaway shot of the ribeye with the garlic butter melting...that's what it's all about. You gave those prime steaks the expert cooking they deserved.
