A 50-year time capsule

I was taking a break from tax season misery and checked out OfferUp. I actually like OfferUp the best of web-based buying and selling, but unfortunately, FB Marketplace has proved to be an unstoppable juggernaut. Anyway, buried in the limited selection of Weber items for sale, I came across a six month old listing for a 1973 Weber Kettle unused and unassembled, still in the box. I was shocked when the seller said he still had it and lived close by me.

So, here are a few pictures. Soon I will take everything out, wipe off the 50 years of dust and maybe put together one time just for fun. Not sure what I will do after that🤔.

If it's an investment, keep it boxed. If you're going to use it, build it. I loved my 70's Kettle, with the 3-side vents, you could run it much like you would a WSM

I think you are right, although I will clean off the 50 years of dust and cobwebs and enjoy looking at the whole package. I have virtually the same grill I picked up for ten bucks years ago and added a correct ash pan. Also a red three MBH three-vent, so there is no need to even put it together for fun nor certainly to cook on it.

Very cool finding something that rare. I'm surprised there was even one out there that old that's still in the box. Great find!

Awesome find Jon! That's a great addition to the museum. I would have to put it together, but I know I would never use it. Preserve the box and paperwork if you ever decide to part with it, it's still new.

nice, Ive been lurking on marketplace alot and found a two tone copper mist mid 70s on FB but the price is a bit steep
