    Considering a superautomatic

I've found these superautomatic espresso/coffee machines fascinating ever since I frequented our group's HQ in Erbenheim, Germany when I was working. Espresso, double shots, cappuccino if desired...all with the press of a button. That one in our office was a commercial machine with a direct...

Sudden loss of network connection newer phone

I have been using a Google Pixel 7a since October with Google Fi and all worked flawlessly until yesterday afternoon. While driving home, it suddenly dropped data connection and got a No SIM Card detected notification. I restarted the phone...same thing. Went through the troubleshooting steps...

    Recommendations for rust proofing casters

After less than two years on our beach house deck, these Amazom sourced casters have rusted into useless chunks of metal with PVC wheels. The ball bearing swivels survived fine but the ball bearing wheel axels completely rusted. I found ones at Harbor Freight that use a pin/shaft axel that I...

    Breakfast on the Genesis II

Since it was a balmy 35 degrees and sunny this AM, I thought I'd try breakfast on the Genesis II. We don't have bacon very often but had a bit left over from a dinner my wife made the other night. Now I know why I don't cook breakfast outside... almost never. Because it's such a royal PIA. No...

Turkey and rib roast on deck for the Oakford

Have a frozen turkey, 9lbs. I believe and a smaller 5lb. rib roast both in the chest freezer. Turkey is from Christmas...grocery store freebie and I grabbed the rib roast last week when they were $5/lb. for Easter. If it ever stops raining here, the turkey will go on the Nexgrill Oakford 580...

Foil pans and pellet grills-when, where, why, how

I see them used for all sorts of cooks and in different ways. So what's the consensus of when, where, how, etc...? Beef rib roast, prime rib roast, pork butt, chicken, burgers, steaks?? Meat directly inside? Pan under meat on different grate? Pan under grate on grease tray? Effect on temperature?

    Prime Rib on sale

Several of the supermarkets now have prime rib on special for the upcoming Easter holiday I imagine.$5-$8/lb. depending on grade. Did one on the Genesis II for Christmas dinner...but I didn't have the Oakford pellet grill then. I'll pick up a smaller one later this week and on the Oakford it...

    Handy gadget

I've had one of these installed since I remodeled our kitchen in 2021. Just bought another for our beach house. It's handy and it works. I would routinely overfill the puny little bottle and clean up the mess afterwards and also had the neck of one of the plastic bottles break. A big jug of Dawn...

    Today's project

Installing this flush mount hose bib on our deck. I need to place under the kitchen sink and tap off the sink's cold water feed. So it's find the best spot under the kitchen sink, drill a hole from the inside out with a spade bit and extension. Mount it and do some creative plumbing.

    Interesting Lobster

We have a favorite seafood place not too far from our beach house. We only go in the off season...way too crowded in summer. It's called The Lobster House and it's located just as you enter Cape May, NJ. Had a great dinner there tonight. But I've walked past this guy dozens of times but just...

    Broilmaster Hangs Tough

Got down to the beach house as we hadn't been down in about 6 weeks. Uncovered the Broilmaster P3 and reconnected the NG line. Fired up first try. It will get a workout Easter Sunday when we have 12-15 people over. The only disappointment is the manual rotary igniter for the side burner I added...

    Genesis II E-325 Lid Feet/Bumpers

Was cleaning the grill in anticipation of coming warmer days. I noticed smal holes drilled where the front lid bottom meets the firebox. It looks like there should be small silicone bumpers or feet to cushion the metal on metal closing of the lid but there are none. Is this an oversight during...

    SHRIMP PSA- Proceed with caution!

I came across this article while researching what the little BAP label was on bags of frozen shrimp. It was eye opening to me. https://www.goodhousekeeping.com/health/diet-nutrition/a20705777/disgusting-facts-about-farmed-shrimp/ And researching further, I came across several more studies and...
