    Old 1987 81001 26" Kettle Parts Hunt

My grill refurb is complete. The charcoal rails just came in today. I don't believe it. The 7402 rails appear to have been discontinued for years.

    Old 1987 81001 26" Kettle Parts Hunt

I have a 1987 81001 26" kettle that needs a few parts. My plan was to replace the charcoal and food grates and the p/n 7402 charcoal rails. This has turned into "The Hunt for Red October". I called Weber customer service and the food grate will be available next year and no ETA on the other...

A little lamb and some skirt steak.

Awesome cooks. Check out the Weber 7402 charcoal rails, I think you'll like them better than the baskets.

Handle replacements and purpose of charcoal grate never seen one like this

...as I find them more convenient, especially when you want to move them around with lit coals in them. EDIT: adding in the link to Weber.com for these "charcoal rails" https://www.weber.com/GB/en/accessories/cooking/charcoal-briquettes-and-accessories/7402.html Oh, and, welcome to TVWBB! Rich

Looking for details on a new-to-me 22" kettle

...code DR.. so model year 2005/2006. Not bad. Paid $50 for the grill, a backup chimney, half a bag of Red Devil, a pair of Weber Charcoal Rails (7402) and some wood chunks. It is a beautiful blue. The prior owner said he worked for Chevy and it was as close to Chevy Engine Block Blue as he...

    Weber Charcoal Basket Hack

I do that with my old Weber " rails " , I use both of them on one side. I can adjust how much space to allow for charcoal. I then line the other side of the grate with aluminum foil. Works really well.

My 1st Long Cook on the 14.5

So I completed my first long cook yesterday on the 14.5, a 10lb Pork Butt. 9 hours, Whew!! Must say, the 14.5 hung in there for 6 hours before having to re-up on charcoal. It was fun and educational at the same time. Started WSM up at around 4:45 am wanting to make sure I gave myself enough...

    Who needs a steak house?!

So I arrived home early from work to make my beautiful GF a nice Valentines dinner. She wasn't expecting me to be home early, so this was a bit of a surprise. I got the flowers and everything set up before she got home: Then I had a couple of rib eyes, bone off, sitting and getting to room...

Chuck Roll on the GOSM,... sorry it's not a Weber.

Living on an island can be real boring, so since I've been reminiscing about the pulled beef sammies that we always ate back home at the Kern County Fair about this time of the year I pulled the trigger on a New Zealand Angus Chuck Roll. Weighs in at 11 1/2 pounds, converted to dollars it's...

    Wingettes And Pizza

I cooked some chicken wingettes and pizzas while we watched the games on Sunday. I brined 2 dozen chicken wingettes in Good Seasons Italian dressing mix and water for about 2-3 hours. I cooked them on my 22 1/2" OTG then slathered them with Sweet Baby Rays bbq sauce. Yummy! We made pizzas for...

    Post your HeaterMeter graphs

This is my 3rd smoke on my 18.5" WSM. It was my first Boston Butt and first cook using the HM. I used the default settings: Bias: 4 Proportional: 3 Integral: 0.005 Derivative: 5 As you can see, the grill was pretty hot when I started. So, I closed the vents almost completely...

Have you made a second tier

I use one of these . It works on a Kettle or a WSM. The smaller size works great on my "mini". quote: Originally posted by Shaun R: You could also just get a grate for the 18.5 and a couple of bricks to hold it up. I used to do that before I had a grate extender. good idea..... never thought...

    New Performer owner here

Gunar, did you try to ignite the gas again? To my knowledge it's not supposed to cut off without you turning it off...a problem, maybe? Anyhow, it didn't take long for me to trash the baskets (they're a good idea in theory...but useless, IMO)....not to mention that 24 briqs total just ain't...

Whan are briquettes ready to come out of chimney starter?

Jamie, From reading your original post, I take it you're mostly concerned about your (lack of) temps for high heat searing. I've had similar experiences and problems as you've had, and this is how I cured it.... I brought the coals UP to my cooking grate. OK, this requires a few extra $$, but...

    Flat top grill?

Not my idea, but someone posted on using the Weber Charcoal Railsalong with a 2nd charcoal grate to raise the coals for a better sear. If you have the rails and another top grate that should work. Tim

    70's charcoal rails NIB

Dang it Jim, how did I miss your post on the top side grate extender? Now I have to hunt down a Smokey Joe grate. For those asking if they still make these, yes they do. Our local Ace has them. Item # 7402. They run around $7.00 for a pair.
