Any of you Not add any wood just charcoal? I bought a Costco applewood smoked ham and wanted to warm it in there since there won't be any room in the house. Better then warming in the oven?

So last night I bought my first full brisket that I had to trim myself. Got her all dressed up an rubbed down. Fired up the wsm with royal oak and some pecan chunks. Put that bad boy on for a midnight cook. Woke up this morning at 8 to go check. The temp of the meat was 115. Wsm temp was 120...
I'm so pumped about getting this smoker. My man points just went up. So quick question? Should I do a burn first before actually smoking food since its new?
