I have thought about that also but with just one grill. For the top I would use plywood with cement board on top of that. Should be plenty for the heat and would good to lay the tiles on.
I want to pick up a new gas grill and want a Weber but a new one is not in the budget. Can anybody tell me what kind this is and approx age?

I do it all the time with lump. In my experience when I close all the vents the lump stops burning much faster then Kinsford leaving me more for the next cook.
