You might want to read this magazine

Sorry about that, sounds like a good story there somewhere. Why so bitter?
I have been a subscriber for 3 years now and have enjoyed them. Of course after being a recipe collector for over 30 years, it is getting hard to read about anything new. lol

The network has become a food farce, I’m not really bitter, just disappointed. It started out well enough actually teaching technique and giving good ideas. Now, it’s “personality” and how much merchandise the people can slap their name on and sell. Most of its junk!
I’m not saying it’s not something to read now and then but, I’m not making a steady diet of it. Most of the new talent just leaves me cold, I just don’t watch it anymore.

i gave up all magazines a few years back as i couldn't manage all that data because it wasn't searchable. and i've found youtube to be an amazing place to diversify what we cook and eat. literally, i am able to watch and learn from cooks from Persia, Turkey, Israel, Egypt, Italy, Greece, USA, Germany, S Korea, Japa, Vietnam, Thailand and more.

I don't read the magazine, but I watch the channel a lot. Granted, it's all food competition shows during prime time hours (you can still find cooking demo shows like Pioneer Woman, Ina Garten, Trisha Yearwood, etc if you look hard enough) but I do find some of the competitions interesting. And I like Triple D on Friday nights...we try to visit those restaurants while travelling (with mixed results). Last one we hit was J's Prairie Rose Cafe in Laramie, WY and had a great breakfast there.

We used to watch the food channel every night back in the 90's. Haven't watched maybe once or twice for the last ten years.
Not into the goofy game shows. Barb does subscribe to the magazine, and I have the one Joan is talking about. I do find some good recipes in the magazine on occasion.

This is a bit off-topic but still about magazines. ;)

A while back, BFletcher asked if members had a favorite website to get recipes.
I don't have a go-to site, but mentioned that when a recipe online caught my eye, it was often from Taste of Home.
And then Joan informed me that Taste of Home has a magazine. 😯

A couple weeks ago, I got a solicitation in the mail for TOH mag subscription at a ridiculous price - how could I refuse?
So I guess I will find out what it's all about! LOL

And Joan... I guess this could be one of your woo-woo-woo coincidences. 😱 (Or maybe Bill Gates' people just doing what they do.)

Hi Brenda, thanks for letting me know. Hope you enjoy it. A few weeks ago, I sent in a sub. for Bon Appetit (again, after a few years) I now have 4 mags. coming. I like to have them to read in "you know where lol". I hate that they only come every other month.

Gotta agree with @Chris Allingham . Food Network ain't what it used to be. Personally, I dislike the vast majority of cooking competitions, although Fire Masters (produced by Food Network Canada) to be a refreshing change. It's simply a 3 round themed competition with a short time limit. Oh, and an open hardwood fire is involved. :D Considering when a lot of these shows that we enjoy are aired, it's nice to have medium sized media system (currently 44tb of storage) to record this stuff for later viewing.

Magazines... I still get Cook's Illustrated and Cook's Country, and that's it.

This Old House, Doc Martin and now The Indian Doctor otherwise the TV is never on. Of course we only have an antenna but wouldn’t matter the availability.

When Emeril actually did real cooking, before Mario was exposed before Paula was ”woke”, were the glory days of food network. The ninety pound, bubbly, capped toothed “personalities” make me turn on old “Perry Mason” episodes for background noise while I fill the commode. “Carnival Eats“, etc. no one should be making that much empty calories for their friends and families! “Triple D”? I think the guy has ruined some nice “mom and pop“ places but, probably saved a few too, but he’s still a jerk.

Gee!!!! All of this because I receive a MAGAZINE that I REALLY LIKE!!!

Who said anything about their TV shows? Let's stick to the subject OK?

It's about grilling and grills. Thought a few of you might like to read it. OK!!!! No harm intended. Sorry!!!!!

The shows did used to be much better. We don’t have cable anymore so it’s a non-issue now, but when we did it seemed like it was all Guy Fieri.

My wife gets that magazine. I think it's one she got for free from a TMobile promotion. She showed me the section talking about what chefs like which grills. She also laughed at me with the grill bingo page in the back as I have all of the squares but one. We both got a few laughs out of it. She usually gets a few recipe ideas out of each one. I'll have to look at little closer at the grilling recipe ideas, maybe I will be inspired.
