Tri-Tip & mystery Steaks - another trip to Restaurant Depot

Went to Restaurant Depot again yesterday & scored pretty big I think. Last time the Tri tip was >$6 per pound, this time it was $2.66 per pound!

I wasn't sure it was the right stuff & there was a worker at the other end of the rack so I asked "is this all of the tri-tips?".... yes... so we grabbed a couple bags. A few minutes later he says "hey boss, you interested in a sirloin strip, I'm marking it half off because the seal was damaged" (I forget what he said). The receipt says "Bf Strip 1x1", normal price $3.29/lb, we got it for $1.89. I was looking at ribeyes when me offered :).

Looks like NY Strips to me, if anyone knows what it is please let me know.

I left one of the steaks out for ~3 hours while I went out, I just peppered it before I left.

It was very tender but I didn't trim it at all - next time I'll trim it a little better. I didn't salt it at all, just pepper. It was good, but not prepped much at all...... Next time I'll cook it over fire and use S&P, I think. I see fajitas in the near future too.

I was mainly trying to get a bunch of protein for health reasons (started lifting weights again, modifying my diet "for performance" to see what happens... not really my thing, I'm just experimenting)
 
Nice steak cook and haul Clint,with Heinz57 too boot, great pic above the city limits also.
