Went to Restaurant Depot again yesterday & scored pretty big I think. Last time the Tri tip was >$6 per pound, this time it was $2.66 per pound!
I wasn't sure it was the right stuff & there was a worker at the other end of the rack so I asked "is this all of the tri-tips?".... yes... so we grabbed a couple bags. A few minutes later he says "hey boss, you interested in a sirloin strip, I'm marking it half off because the seal was damaged" (I forget what he said). The receipt says "Bf Strip 1x1", normal price $3.29/lb, we got it for $1.89. I was looking at ribeyes when me offered
.
Looks like NY Strips to me, if anyone knows what it is please let me know.
Tri-tips on the left & right, mystery meat in the middle (dog on the right - she got both raw & cooked scraps - good doggie)
What kind of steak is this?
I left one of the steaks out for ~3 hours while I went out, I just peppered it before I left.
