Thanksgiving Dinner #2

Cliff Bartlett

R.I.P. 5/17/2021
We had our second Thanksgiving Dinner last night with more of the family. This one was at our house. I did the turkey, stuffing and green bean casserole, all on Weber Grills. Did another pumpkin pie on the WSM too. My wonderful family contributed the rest with potatoes and two more desserts. Here's the pic's of everything done on the Weber. I apologize for the length of this post.

Started with preparing the stuffing. The nuts you see in the pic are pecans. I'm old school when it comes to turkey and I stuff the bird with bread stuffing. I'm careful and have never had a problem.

Stuffing all mixed. Used and old Weber recipe out of my first ever Weber book that came with my first kettle. Do it every year.

Got the bird out to warm a bit. This one was 22.5 lbs.

Fired up WSM and got pie #2 going.

Pie done. No divot in this one. Used toothpick.

Got the turkey all stuffed and ready for grill.

Cooked this years turkey on my 26er, to give me a little more room. It performed marvelously.

OK. Pie done, turkey and stuffing on. Time to work on green bean casserole. One pound of green beans, par boiled for 10 minutes.

Beans in ice bath immediately to stop cooking.

Put beans aside and thinly sliced three onions and cut up a half cup of my bacon I did a couple of weeks ago.

Seasoned the onions with flour and Panko Bread Crumbs.

Turkey doing great after two hours.

Got the onions frying.

Another bird check.

Fried the bacon and sautéed about a pound of mushrooms, I used Baby Bella and Plain Whte.. all they had.

Added a can of chicken broth and cup of half and half. Then added beans.

Mixed in about half of the fried onions.

Bird just about done.

Green Bean Casserole is done.

Stuffing plated.

Sliced up, white and dark meat.

Half gone!

Plated.

This was the best turkey I've ever cooked. Very moist and flavorful. We had a great Thanksgiving and I sincerely hope you all did as well. Thanks for looking.

I'm with Barb on the casserole. Funny but I only ever saw it done with those bagged onion strip things. But I would try yours

Cliff that is a perfect Turkey day meal the bird looked perfect and I have never tried to do stuffing on a grill bird, the green bean casserole is very good looking I like that it is made from scratch and no canned mushroom soup was involved.
