Terriyaki-Habanero Wings on the Gasser - leftover Cedar Plank for the smoke

Right after I put the wings on the grill, all 3 on high, I minced a single (whole) habanero, threw it in this 1 quart sauce pan with ~1/2 cup of water & simmered it for ~8 minutes. Then I poured in ~1/3 cup of Terriyaki, simmered that for a few, added a little corn starch to thicken just a little:

The cedar plank from yesterdays dinner was still on the grate & I figured WTH :D

a little hotter than usual but not painfully so.. I was a little nervous at first when I took a small piece of the minced pepper for a taste. Longer mouth burn (mild), but not bad.

It started putting off a hot scent while the pepper simmered in the water----I wondered if I was making a mistake. They were very good and I'll definitely use fresh habs again!

The smoke from the plank was very mild too - I think most of it smouldered out so it might've been more like "cedar lump", if there was such a thing.

That's ok Rich, we could make you some cheerleader wings :p

Not everybody likes the heat, I probably wouldn't if it wasn't for my friends who got me into wings (of course my mom did make some firey ones herself- first wings I remember her making were killers).

I have some really good Raspberry Chipotle sauce you might like..... Nice thing about tossing in sauce later is you can make a few different varieties. If it's just me I'll just do them all the same but when there's even just 2 or more we'll do more flavors.

My favorite flavors:

Franks Redhot Wings (usually dr'd up a little)
Terriyaki (hots for me please - I'll sometimes marinate these before)
Walkerswood (tossed in the paste beforehand)
BBQ hot (SBR w/ a little heat for me)

Other flavors in the fridge:
Raspberry Chipotle (it's pretty good!)
Spicy Mango
...thought there were more but all gone...

Clint my SLC Brother....you always make your wings look so dang good. You need to plan a trip to So. Oregon and teach me how to make wings look as good as yours.

Thats some awesome looking wings Clint! A little too hot for me, but you did a great job.
