Steak, mushrooms, onion, and potato

This week sucked. Not your regular everyday suck, but family in the hospital life changing suck. 'nuff said. So I have a chance to come home, do laundry, mow, and eat like a king for a few hours. Publix had a ribeye on sale so I grabbed one and never looked back.

I salted it, seasoned some 'shrooms and onions with olive oil and a bit of Thyme and Black's and got the black iron pan ready for business.

Threw some of the thyme sprigs on the fire for smoke. I also hit it with some cracked black pepper the last minute or so.

Served with a pint of much needed Homebrew Maibock and a baked tater.

Sorry to hear about your bad week and family in the hospital. Hoping everything gets better real fast my friend. Great looking steak and tater, a little comfort food always helps.
 
Hang in there Dwain - I hope everything gets better fast - good call to break out your grill and get your mind off it for a while. That steak looks perfect and you matched it well with awesome sides. No steak house can beat that meal. Oh and extra points for the homebrew...

Dwain, I hope that next week is a better one. Nothing better than a good meal to make things better at least for a while.

Hope your family gets well soon. Glad you got a few hours to light a fire and eat a great meal. 5 minutes of "normal" is priceless in these times.

Hi Dwain. Just seen this thread as I was visiting my Dad, who is not "firing-on-all-six". Sucks indeed.

Nice cook Mate, hope things turn out ok. :)
