Nice day here in the mountains, so it’s time to drag out a grill and make something. Decided to make my Jelly Balls. I make a batch of these every year about this time some for football games or just holiday munching.
Added a new twist this year I smoked them with cherry wood.
Performer got the call.

Not shown 1 1/2lb 80/20 and 1lb of mild Italian sausage.

Ready for the grill.

The sauce calls for 3/4 cup of ketchup I did a 50/50 with ketchup and #5 sauce.

After a spin in the blender.

Two 10 inchers indirect to brown the meatballs.

Ready for the sauce after they are drained on paper towels.

Came out really great with a nice light smoky taste along with the sweet and sour taste of the meatballs and sauce.

Thanks for coming by.

Those are lookin' pretty tasty Rich! I just might have to try those! Recipe?

Here ya go Mike.

1 ½ Lbs. 80/20 Hamburger
1 Lb. Mild Italian Sausage
2 Eggs
½ Cup Oatmeal
½ Med Onion Chopped Fine
½ Tsp. Salt
1/2 Tsp Pepper
1 Tsp. Italian Seasoning
2Tsp. Parsley Flakes

Mix everything together and roll into 1 inch balls cook meatballs until brown, drain on paper towels.

Sauce

1 ½ cups Grape Jelly
½ Cup Ketchup
½ Cup BBQ Sauce
1 Cup Water

Mix ingredients in a blender or food processer. Place sauce and meatballs in a pan and slow simmer about ½ hour to blend the flavors. If using for a party they can be kept warm in a crock pot.

Used mostly as a standalone appetizer I have used some over rice and it was quite good.

Those things are almost ubiquitous around here during Christmas functions, generally from a crock pot. You just took something simple and cranked it up about 57 notches!! Those look fantastic. What a great idea!

Man those look good. I've always just used grape jelly alone, but now I know better. Excellent Rich

Rich, those jelly balls look spot on. The wife saw them and says she's wants to take them to a party she's going to next week. Thanks for the recipe.

Our company is doing a pot luck Friday the 18th (annual event) And I knew when you posted this thread, that this is what I'm going to do / bring. Will need to double up the ingredients, but am hoping for a good do on these. Thanks again Rich

I double this all the time, comes out the same as a single batch. No worries.
