Roasted Hatch Chiles

Got my first batch of Hatch, New Mexico chiles all roasted up!

Few to no places locally are roasting them at stores - that's ok, I prefer to do it myself anyway. Makes the whole house smell great with the intoxicating aroma of fresh roasted green chiles. (y)

Fresh and ready to roast

After pulling them off the grill (diffusers removed for more direct flame to get better blistering)

Peeled and diced; ready for the weekend. Fish tacos for Saturday, green chile cheese burgers for Sunday.

Gotta get started on another batch.

Here in OKC we have a local grocery store chain called Crest that sets up canopies out front and gets the big roller drum and roasts the chilies right there and sells them by the pound, peeled and ready to go.

Still waiting for our boxes to arrive. Hopefully this week. 10 pounds each of Big Jim and Joe Parker.
Kettle and rotisserie standing by...

Hatch chilies I cannot get. Lobster, yes; fresh chilies? Not so much.
I am jealous 😫 Really want to have a double-burger with hatch.

I’m gonna miss not being at the Hatch Chile Festival this year. You can almost catch a buzz from all the roasted chile aroma.

Chile rellano burritos, elote, carnitas tacos, watching kids in the chile and pie eating contests (y)
