Some of you may have noticed I haven’t been posting for a week or so, or maybe not. Anyway the reason is I’m coming up on my 4000 post, and trust me I don’t do a lot of the same things. I lose interest in most things I do and move on to something else.
But the friends Barb and I have made here and the wonderful things we have learned keeps me coming back every day.
So I wanted to do something kind of special for this milestone, at least a milestone for me anyway.
As some of you know we lost our Golden Retriever Holly who was Raddy’s pup, our other Golden last November. After fighting our way through her diabetes in June and getting her back to her old self she picked up a virus from a tick bite and couldn’t overcome the infection.
Barb and I were devastated, but even more so Raddy, as she missed her buddy of nine years. We thought about getting another Golden but at our advancing age a 60-70 pound dog is a bit much for us now.
So the search started to find a rescue pup that that needed a helping hand and a second chance and was manageable and would be a buddy for Raddy in her senior years.
After three months of searching all over the Western states we think we found the one and here she is.
Meet Patches, a one year old Aussie mix that’s full of love and energy. She was snatched from a high kill shelter in New Mexico. She is recovering from surgery on her front leg due to a birth defect and will be 100% when she recovers. We adopted her from a rescue organization here in Prescott Az.
She is just the right size at thirty pounds and big enough to go bird and lizard busting with Raddy out in the fields by our home.
Even our snarky old lady Raddy approves, it should be an interesting match.
Barb and I are thrilled that we can give this pup that had such a rough start in life and still is as friendly and happy as can be a fresh start and a forever home.
Couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate number 4000!
