Random Cooks This Long Weekend

I've been using all my cookers this weekend, with the exception of the gasser. Outta propane! :o
No worries though! I cooked a little bit of everything!
A couple of Pammi's coworkers are either battling cancer, or have a spouse who is. Besides prayer and an ear, the best thing we can do is feed them! Pammi has taken lasagnas and casseroles to a coworker who is battling breast cancer since July. We also found out that former coworker's husband is battling leukemia. Not good! The last time we delivered meals, I casually asked if they liked BBQ and got a resounding YES for an answer. So, early yesterday morning, I went and got a 7 pound butt. Seasoned with Sweet Fire rub from a local BBQ joint, and onto the WSM using K and some peach chunks. This is about 4 hours in.

I put a couple small pans of beans under the butt to take in some of the goodness!

I also put a small chunk of cured belly on. I sent some to the guy fighting leukemia. Bacon is supposed to make everything better!

I also broke in the new Miller Lite SJ that I got at a flea market! Bone in rib eye yesterday, a couple nice thick pork chops tonight, along with an ear of corn!

I also tried my hand at jerky! I had a piece of london broil in the freezer. While it was still mostly frozen, I sliced it pretty thin and marinated overnight in soy, worcestershire, Tabasco, garlic and salt powder and some black pepper. I rinsed it today and put it on the kettle using a single line of K as a snake. No wood. This is after 5 hours.

The few samples I've tried have been good. It needs to go several more hours. It may be an all nighter. We'll find out in a couple hours!
Thanks for looking everyone!

Some nice cooks there, Phil, and I'm sure that your and your wife's kindness will be much appreciated.

I particularly love the shot of that ribeye on your new SJ, kinda takes over that little grate, doesn't it?!? :)

Great thing you and Pammi are doing I'm sure it's greatly appreciated. All the cooks look great, nice work.

Ditto what Rich said Phil. It reaffirms my faith in the basic kindness of people to hear of folks like yourself and Pammi reaching out to others who are in despair.

That's very nice of you to cook for them. Looks like everything turned out great. That blue SJ was a great find BTW.

Many stars in your crown for the acts of kindness and generosity, I pray all goes well with the friends and family. It's hard to know what to do for people but, feeding people is very wise. Stress of family trauma can make people forget about it simply don't feel like it. Good work!

Thanks for all the kind words. Sometimes when you are caring for or dealing with a potentially fatal disease, food and nourishment is sometimes the last thing on your mind. Especially when you are the parent/provider. Pammi and I found this out when our son was sick. Not having to prepare food is a great help.
And, yes, we're doing it again in the near future.
