Pulled Pork for the big game!

I decided to make some pulled pork sandwiches for the super bowl this year.

I started with a 8 lb pork butt.

I seasoned it up with the Southern Succor rub and I did something different this time. I injected (gasp!) with the Chris Lilly Championship Injection. Something I never do.

I fired up the WSM with KBB and pecan chunks at kept it about 230 to 250.

I was in a hurry to get this thing cooked in time for the game so I did another thing I don't normally do. I crutched it with some apple juice when it hit about 170.
This is after the cook and before the rest.

Pulled. The nice thing about foiling is you have some great drippings to pour back in.

More pulled goodness.

Why wife made an awesome blue cheese slaw.

Some sammy's

I used the vinegar sauce from the Franklin book. It tastes great!.

Sandwichy goodness.

I'm kind of a purist when it comes to brisket but I don't feel the same way about pulled pork. The injection added a ton of flavor and pork sometimes needs some help. Thanks for looking!

That looks fantastic Dustin. I was expecting to see you do a brisket for the game, after all brisket is your game. But you're down with the pulled pork too. I'd have put a big dent in your inventory there :)

That looks terrific Dustin. I've bee injecting my PP for a while and I agree it adds a ton of flavor. Got to look into that vinegar sauce, sounds like a great addition to that Sammy.

WOW!!! Dustin that looks fantastic. Like Rich said will have to check out that vinegar sauce. Mrs. did great on the slaw.
