Pork Steaks and my basket trick

Hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend!
Yesterday morning I went to visit a friend, and his comrades.
It always makes me feel humble, and very thankful.

On Sunday I cooked a couple of pork steaks.

Now here's my char baskets trick for an extended indirect cook.
Put charcoal in each basket, only light one, and place each by a flip-up side.
When the lit one is about burned out, add some of the coals to the unlit one.
This way you have plenty of heat to sear, and hot cook corn or whatever else.

I sauced, and foiled the steaks while the corn cooked.

I used only olive oil and Weber's Steak & Chop on the corn and boiled spuds.

Along with my SD pulled pork, we porked out this weekend!
Have a nice short week everyone!

That's a great idea Bob, almost every time I do a long indirect cook I'm out of coals when I need some high heat at the end of the cook. Thank you for the first two photos it keeps the day in perspective as it should.

Great idea with the baskets Bob

You know, I really think it very nice the way you guys remember your fallen men and women

I like how you honor their heroes. But it is a very sad sight...
Your PS are top-notch as always Bob.

Thanks Bob for the pics and humble reminder of why we're all here enjoying this great site.
Your cook is great as always. I'll take the olive oil on corn as well, I made the switch from butter.
