Pileated woodpeckers

Such a treat, for sure!
We’ve had only once seen Pete Pileated in our yard... hoping he returns again!
However, we now have eagles in the area as well!

I haven't seen a pileated woodpecker since I was in high school (mid-1960s). We have downy and red-bellied woodpeckers, but I would love to have the larger ones as well.

My only pileated sighting occurred in a southern Indiana state park some years ago, but downies, hairies, redbellies and to a lesser extent redheads and flickers are visually common around here.

Beautiful pics Bob! Have had a pair of pileated woodpeckers around my house every year since I moved here 36 years ago. Beautiful birds and they become quite tame. I can sometimes get as close as 15 feet from the tree they are in before they fly away when I am working around the yard.
