Pie Day and Turkey Day

Wednesday before Thanksgiving is always Pie Day in our house here are the highlights.

My girls working on the pumpkin pie filling.


My son and I working on the crust.

And here are the final products

Apple, pecan with a pecan missed due to my wife's actions, and pumpkin.


Then today was the first time I smoked on Thanksgiving. While I did a whole bird in the oven. I also did a bone in breast on the WSM 14. After a little trouble getting it up to temp, which I knew what to do because of all I learned here, it was a perfect cook with great results.

Here is the breast going on the smoker.

I have an audience while getting ready to cut it.

After that it was game over, I didn't get any photos of the spread, which I wish I did because it was pretty darn perfect.

Michael, I love seeing the whole family together in the kitchen for pie day! I love cooking with my kids, and have even gotten one of them into the habit of taking photos of what she makes (we share pics back and forth while she's at college.....good bonding!) The pies look great, and you nailed the turkey breast. A great T-Day at the Richards' homestead!!
