Also brand new q1200 grills for sale on eBay for about $180. Seems very reasonable
Perfect!!Picked up a Q1400 Electric today for $15. It looks like I can have it looking near new in about an hour or two.
I'm thinking q2800 but is there an argument for any other model? Like maybe the 3200 or anything great about the lower models that I'm not aware of?I would wait. I think you have enough grills to use now that you won't be limiting yourself very much by waiting and pouncing on that steal of a deal.
Josh, I have not used a Q2800, but from what I understand, if the size is good for you, then you probably have the best Q grill. If you need more room, the Q3200 will maybe be a better choice. I would probably not get a Q1200 unless you just want the smaller size. The Q2800 allows for much more grate space, but it does have dual burners and with just one burner on, will likely be very conservative with LP.I'm thinking q2800 but is there an argument for any other model? Of course, this is not factoring cost of each grill.
Thank you Chris I appreciate the feedback and it looks delicious!!Yes, I just used my Q1000 (no side tables and shallower depth top) last night to cook a NY strip from Costco. Gets to 500 (I have a hose and attach a 20# tank). The results:

The 2800’s look great. I have had a 320 forever and have a new 3200 waiting to be opened until we move home. Next summer some time.Thank you Chris I appreciate the feedback and it looks delicious!!
I think you'd be fine with the cast iron. I used both aftermarket stainless along with the stock cast iron. Both perform very similar, and I didn't really see an upside or downside to eitherThat's great!! I appreciate the input. My only concern is the only option is cast iron grates. Other than a cheap generic SS replacement. I know some people prefer cast iron but I'm not a fan. Really that's the only thing holding me back. I'd love to try one but not sure I can look past that.
I think I could probably make an exception for a QI think you'd be fine with the cast iron. I used both aftermarket stainless along with the stock cast iron. Both perform very similar, and I didn't really see an upside or downside to either
Does anyone have a Q 1200 and can tell me how hot they get? 500°F?
That's awesome. I might prefer a smaller Q and for the prices the new 1200 are going for. Under $200 is quite appealing for a new grillThe regulator on mine went out so I replaced it with a direct to propane mod. Know it gets to almost 600!
@Bruce
Thanks for posting this. My Q decided to stop working last weekend. Just as I was about to cook up some fish. I narrowed it down to the regulator then found this helpful thread.
I went with the adapter that @Ed P posted and it’s working well!
Many thanks!
(PS - it used to max out at 500, but just got it to almost 600!)
I still have this 1200 and use it for when it’s just a couple people or a small cook.
It’s also nice to know I have it as a back up for when (if) the 2800 is out of order or in addition to it for a super big cook.
Could you share with me what you found?It's too bad Weber has not come out with something "else" for the Q to make it work "properly" as designed. The best alternative I've seen is the SS ones Bruce and I found
I would show you a link but the company doesn't make them anymore. And the ones from Germany that were on FleaBay are not there anymore. Maybe Bruce can shoot a photo. My Q 320 is not in use at momentCould you share with me what you found?
