I got a call from my buddy who just bought a house and we were invited for dinner. When I asked if we should bring anything he said, "We were going to order out but we think we want you to grill wings for us." "okay" I said thinking it was a little short noticed but I can make this work. "Do you have a grill?" I asked. "Yes".

okay...I can work with this.

Not much to say, gave them a quick rub of cayenne and a heavy dose of olive oil

oops too hot!

Getting there...

More light!

And plated with salad with homemade blue cheese dressing and grilled portabella.
I made the wing sauce by frying jalapeno, onion and garlic then adding butter, apple cider vinegar and a bottle of crystal. Added chipotle and dried guajillo and ran it through a blender. Very tasty.

Nice job on the wings .. Your buddies pit looks a little worse for wear but, has the potential for a sweet set-up with a little imagination ..

Nicely done Chris... A great cook can cook on anything and it looks like your one of the great ones.

Excellent job Chris....looks delish. Work with your friend on that pit - that could be a great place for some other cooks down the road.

Great cook! And I agree, that pit could use a little work. I would spruce it up and drop a nice little Santa Maria pit in there.

sooo..... they never did order out????
yeah, a little help on that grill and it's a REAL winner!

Chris, c'mon over, we're ordering out tomorrow.....

The pit reminds me of some of the pits at various campgrounds we used. GOOD JOB!

Just goes to show, it's not the bow and arrow, it's the Indian! It just takes SKILL and a bit of artistry...

Great throwback cook!
Many a burger/hot dog has been cooked over just such a backyard "bbq pit" in the 50's and 60's.
