Yes, that’s exactly what I did.The wood slats on the bottom are a nice touch. Did you just cut down some Z bars to make those?

Thanks Bruce that means a lot coming from you. Your work is quite impressive always! You are really good with cleaning those SS Solid rod grates Josh.
I kind of lose track of time but I would say probably about an hour. Using my DeWalt XR impact gun with a variety of wire wheel attachments first and then washing with simple green and Dawn dish soap.Really nice job. What is your method and how long did it take?
I definitely agree with your original assessment 100%Josh, you sure do make those old grates look fantastic!
I do think the 3rd generation Summit grates are still worth the effort. Thick stainless that had minimal magnetic reaction back when I tested. Myself, I seldom use my grill for anything so small as to worry about items falling through. So, like I said in my old write-up I think the slightly wider spacing is actually good for doing crosshatch grill marks. If you do a lot of slender vegetables, though, these may not be as suitable.
josh, we need a proper tutorial from you. I have a set of 9930's that are 80% clean but need the extra sparkle that you get. thanks in advance!I kind of lose track of time but I would say probably about an hour. I'd say these grates are good quality and thickness. But the spacing of the bars is not quite as good as 9930s or QuliMetal 9mm.
These Summit S420 grates have 13 bars per 11 3/4 grate and 9930s and QuliMetal have 15 bars per 11 3/4 grate. Here is a pic of all three
S420 bars on the bottom
#9930s in the middle
QuliMetal on the top.

Just wax them. Shines them right upjosh, we need a proper tutorial from you. I have a set of 9930's that are 80% clean but need the extra sparkle that you get. thanks in advance!
If they still have a black tint to them after wire wheel and simple green I take a scotch bright pad to each bar by hand. That will give you that bright shiny SS.josh, we need a proper tutorial from you. I have a set of 9930's that are 80% clean but need the extra sparkle that you get. thanks in advance!
I can certaintly attest to that! You are really good with cleaning those SS Solid rod grates Josh.
That is the secret sauce I was looking for Josh. I have wire wheeled a lot of SS grates and sometimes I get those that don't seem to quite want to shine up nice.If they still have a black tint to them after wire wheel and simple green I take a scotch bright pad to each bar by hand. I'm Sorry I forgot to mention it before. That is the secret sauce I was looking for Josh. I have wire wheeled a lot of SS grates and sometimes I get those that don't seem to quite want to shine up nice.
Fine grit sandpaper does the trick also. That is the secret sauce I was looking for Josh. I have wire wheeled a lot of SS grates and sometimes I get those that don't seem to quite want to shine up nice.
I'm finding they need modification for all my grills with my Genesis 330s being the closest fit. Fitting front to back but not side to side. With my Genesis ii 300 series grills they are only about 1/4" too big in both directions. I'll most likely cut them down for one of my Genesis 1000 restorations though.@Josh Dekubber - What other grills do the s420 grates fit?
If you keep your eyes open, eventually you'll find an old Summit that has the 9930 grates that are compatible with the Genesis 1000/Silver B grills. That's the way to go in my opinion.I was curious if they’d fit the 1000’s/silver B grills. I’ve eyeballed them and thought they were workable. But never tried or fit them to anything.
