I will just leave this here

Wow! Looks great! I am jealous of your West Coast access to redwood. It is unavailable where I live. Like the others, I look forward to seeing it come together. It will be a great thread to tag for our grill restoration sticky.

... So, I think your $75 was well spent for a keeper, even if too much $ for most flip grill scenarios.

My saying on uncleaned grills is that somebody else’s seasoning is called “crud,” while your own crud is called “seasoning!”:D

I couldn't believe the size of this lumberyard. They seemingly had every variety of wood known to man. It is a small, family-owned, southern California chain called Ganahl Lumber. The yard I went to has been there 115 years. As for the blasting, I couldn't believe I found a place that would do it that cheap. I love your saying about crud.

If I could get a cook Box and end caps Done for 75 bucks, I would probably do that on every one of my rehabs

After spending all of 5 minutes with a grinder on a firebox before I started calling around to blasters, I would have to agree. ;)

Probably not something I would pursue, but it does look like a genuine SS grill. I know they are premium grills but my concern would be finding parts for it and then finding a market for it when done.

It might be something to keep an eye on and if it doesn't sell right away, try a discounted offer on it.

That’s a high end brand. I think parts are probably readily available, but you might not like the prices. You could certainly get it looking and grilling really well, though. Is there a market for it at a price that will cover your parts and effort? That is harder to say. Somebody that knows would be willing to pay more than for a typical Weber, but they are fewer and farther between. The question is how to reach that small group at the right time.

If it has the rear burner (which it appears to) it would be a nice way to get into a true premium product with not too much space. I'd throw out a $125 offer and see what sticks. If it's in good working condition settling anywhere from $150 to $175 would be great

I just got the grates and unboxed them. For ceramic coated steel grates they seem like very good quality. I was surprised by their weight. I didn't expect them to be as heavy as they are. If you need an inexpensive set of grates for your genesis Silver/Gold B or C or Genesis 1000-5000, these are a great buy at under $20. I am going to have to think about using them on rehabs. I could knock $30 to $40 of my asking price. The packaging is stellar too.

Could be right Larry. A lot of people buying grills don't know the pros and cons of one type of grate over another. I guess I could also keep a couple sets around and if someone balks to tries to low ball my price, I can offer a $30 discount if they go with the "BRAND NEW CERAMIC COATED" Steel grates instead of the SS Solid rod grates.

Actually those grates are far better performing than el cheapo rod grates anyway. Better contact surface area, less sticking with difficult foods, food doesn't fall through from being wide enough to drive a car through. IMO a WAY better choice than inexpensive rod grates

That is all some interesting perspectives. I think for many buyers it is how new and clean the grates look vs anything else. I wouldn’t doubt some buyers would prefer a new $20 set like Bruce has shown us over a used set of thick stainless rod grates that have seasoning from use that won’t readily come off.

Cool find there Stefan. Even though I avoid the Genesis 1-5 and 1000-5000 grills, I would probably grab that just for the lid and I think Jon T. would absolutely LOVE that Weber brochure that comes with it.

Is that truly a grey lid or is it what many call Mauve? I ask because I am color blind.

I just noticed something else a little interesting about that grill. It clearly has a Natural Gas line on it, but it also has a propane tank scale on the right front leg. I guess it could be that weber simply put the stickers on all the grills back then or else it is likely the grill was converted at some point.
