The base model has that lower rack instead of slats and zbars, and also doesn't have the slide bar for table support. Seems from the pix that the leg clip which supports the rod when the table is lowered is broken or improperly installed.
The virtually unused 1000 I picked up last summer is this model, and I really like it. The lower rack for an x000 is great except for long narrow tools falling through it.
The only better model 1000 for long term use in my opinion would be a 1000LX or 1200 Skyline, but only with stainless zbars and supports from Dave Santana (thanks, Josh). The slats don't rot, and neither do the zbars.......
