I will just leave this here

Blue platinum 1000 on offer up for $75. looks a bit rough, but I like the blue lid.

Looks like the typical durawood-got-hot bend on the side table.

Well, you see a rough looking grill, in reality, it isn't that bad from what I see. Sure the inside wood slat is bowed, but it looks otherwise solid along with the rest of them. They can be cleaned and refinished or even replaced fairly easily. The grill is dirty, but looks like it has been stored under cover for its lifetime. I would step out of my $50 and below limit for rehab candidates for that grill. That is a sweet lid and the rest looks stout and in good shape.

I wouldn't be able to resist that one even if the only useable part I got from it was that lid. I definitely have a weak spot for the platinum series grills.

An annoying part…

I am now working on restoring a Genesis 330 - a little here and there between tax returns. One part that really annoys me about these grills is the J-clip that provides a way for the thin bottom panel to be bolted to the side frames. On every one of these I have disassembled, these clips are always rusted.

I decided to get out an old container of a product similar to Evaporust. I plunked in my collection of these clips and let them soak for over a day. It worked pretty well removing a lot of accumulated corrosion.

I know, though, that the composition of these clips practically ensures they will soon rust again. It probably will only buy a little time, but I decided to follow up my cleaning with some silver paint:

It may only be short-term fix, but it made me feel better.
Here’s another annoying part:

The magnets found on Genesis 300 series grills and some other models as well. I have yet to get one of these that wasn’t badly rusted:

I decided to dunk some of these in my Evaporust equivalent for a couple days soak:

Better, but I know full well in a few months this part will be rusty again. I decided to use chrome/silver color paint to at least buy some time:

Definitely will look better in a flip grill and hopefully will give the buyer a longer useful life.

They look soooo much better Jon. Good job. I don't think I have ever come across an E3xx without trashed magnets.
