Jon, do you know anything about date codes on these tools? I have this made in USA Proto crescent wrench that I can't remember where it came from. It has a code of F-7-3 forged into it but I can't seem to figure out if that means anything or not.One of my other crazy hobbies - an occasional offshoot from my grill restoration - is restoring old tools. A while back I posted this one that I did for my organization's thrift store in Florida. Underneath all that rust was a pretty nice, Made in USA Ridgid monkey wrench:

Could be the correct age. They are still making it. With a cover, and part of a roti ... not the worst deal ever. The old Spirit was not made after 2016, right? I doubt the guy paid $700 for it new anyway. But, he still wants $300 for it. I notice there is no picture of the inside of the cabinet. I wonder why?

Based on the responses to Jon's post it would seem that an entirely separate thread devoted to old tools wouldn't be a bad thing. One of my other crazy hobbies - an occasional offshoot from my grill restoration - is restoring old tools.
I don’t know about the date codes Proto uses, but I do know they make excellent tools.Jon, do you know anything about date codes on these tools?
