I will just leave this here

Anothert unicorn I have never seen before. Looks like these are expensive when new:

I have seen a number of DCS grills of varying sizes for sale from dirt cheap to $750. It looks like the body is solid quality stainless. The cooking system involves some kind of ceramic rods. The cheap ones have tempted me in the past, but I have had enough "flings" (TEC, Sunbeam, Snap-On) and plan from now on to stick with Weber or possibly another Broilmaster if one were to show up. NO CURRENT GENERATION SUMMITS!!!!

Meanwhile in the Bay Area:

If I already didn't have 10 grill in my yard I would probably take a drive. Maybe my homeboy Jason will be interested.

I have five grills that I need to work on already. If something were to pop up locally I might be willing to jump, but I have no desire to make another run to the bay area if I don't need to.

It is really slow in my area right now. I have two Silver C and one Q2200 for sale since about 3 weeks and no one has even contacted me yet. I was only able to sell my 18.5” WSM today after weeks of listing it.

I hope to implement my evolving plan to create a WEBER Snap-On grill. It will be based on the 3-burner Spirit that was still E-W and basically a Genesis Silver underneath. I plan to use the Snap-On pieces as the doors underneath, paint the trim red and possibly use a Genesis red hood. Hopefully, I can do it all with sweat but not a whole lot more money and sell it for a profit at a modest price.

Can't wait to see that one.

I suppose it is conceivable that that old Smoky Joe layed around unused for fifteen years collecting a lot of dirt. Even if that were true, one with plastic handles and that ugly will never sell for that much.

If that were a lot closer to me, I might offer $20 for it, but it's shot and needs the other $480 to rehab it lol.

Does anyone know what vintage this red head is? i.e. Genesis 1000?

Visiting relatives and saw it nearby...

David, that looks like an early generation Genesis 1000. Extra lids are always handy if you are doing rehabs. I think I would pay $25 for the new one just so I can skip cleaning it up. The other one is probably worth $15 as well. Sometimes the less common colors are great for resales. Seems like everyone has a black lid with red a distant second.

Looks like an older 1000 to me. I would likely buy both lids.
However, if I am reading correctly, sounds like the used is the better
deal. The new one is hood only for sure, but one would assume the
used includes the sides and handle.

The old red head looks like an early to mid 90's Genesis 1 or 1000. I don't see casters so it may be a 1
