I will just leave this here

Lived there for five years. Nice place to visit, but I didn't like living there. "Deutchland"

Yet Another Summit..."needs cleaning and could use new burners and other things."

Here is another good one. I would just love to know what "other things" he means:rolleyes:...a new cabinet, new grates, new frame...

OK. so since I have never seen a Summit in the wild, can someone tell me what the two smaller knobs on the right and left are for??

I think one is the sear burner and the other one is the back burner. The white "strip" horizontally above the grates.

On that particular grill, the left small knob is for the rear infrared burner. The one on the right is for a smoker box on the right side that you can’t make out in the picture. Some people replace the smoker box with a small grate you can buy. With the burner below you then have kind of a sear burner effect. Some Summits have a dedicated sear burner in the center with yet another control knob for it.

Too much stuff going on. That kind of thing reminds me why trying to rehab one of those things isn't a good idea.

Thanks Jon for the correction. I never had one myself. And I don’t really want to restore one either. Too complex. Too many parts which can break and which are too costly to repair. And of course the rust......

Yep, you guys are absolutely right. I used to think that they were kind of a power trip and ultimate Weber. Now I see them as hulking monstrosities - overweight, overcomplex and overly susceptible to rust.

They are NOT good rehab candidates whatsoever.

Yep fwiw the Summit in the ad is not a 670 it's a 650 the 670 also has a sear burner in the middle so it has 9 knobs not 8

Another great example of how not to sell something. Yet, the perfect example of a guy
giving proof to a nagging wife that he is trying to sell it.

The first 2000 or so Weber Gold I have ever seen for sale in our area. Unfortunately way too expensive, only black and about 45 min away...

Meanwhile in the Bay Area:

If I already didn't have 10 grill in my yard I would probably take a drive. Maybe my homeboy Jason will be interested.

That is an older one. I believe before DCS sold out to Fisher & Paykel. Really solid grills but not worth $500 IMO

Here's another rare SnapOn beauty. Only $1500. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/602721580177357

Man, that one is even bigger than the one I scrapped (but saved the Snap-On parts). It looks cool, but it is NOT a very good grill, in my opinion.

Stay tuned to this spring. After tax season I hope to implement my evolving plan to create a WEBER Snap-On grill. It will be based on the 3-burner Spirit that was still E-W and basically a Genesis Silver underneath. I plan to use the Snap-On pieces as the doors underneath, paint the trim red and possibly use a Genesis red hood. Hopefully, I can do it all with sweat but not a whole lot more money and sell it for a profit at a modest price.
