I will just leave this here

Yah, offer $50. There is no way that guy will sell that grill. Any potential buyer is going to be asleep before he decides he wants it.

That’s probably what people say about some of my writing! I think he actually makes a fairly compelling case for his very high priced grill. I wouldn’t be surprised if he doesn’t get close to that. Big plus to me is that it appears he replaced the cabinet bottom and maybe even back. That will buy quite a few years.

I took note about what he said about the warped firebox. My Genesis Platinum B has the same thing. I have definitely noted that my grill runs unusually hot compared to the essentially identical Silver C I had previously. My “bulge”looks like it came from an out of control grease burn in one spot, but this “coincidence” does make me wonder if there was something about the orifice openings on these Platinums that juiced them up somewhat. I do know that some earlier pre-stainless frame Platinum Genesis grills did have a higher btu output than the corresponding “regular” Genesis grills of their time.

Ed,
What's local have to do with it?! ;)
Now it that were a Platinum instead of a Gold I'd be in my SUV on a roadtrip.

Jeff
Now there's a man who loves his grillin'! I'm going to add the Platinum to my watchlist, but first I need to know what to look for...

Nope, like any Unicorn. They are rare, but not rare enough to morgage the house for. I have one in my back yard that is going to wind up being a keeper. I sold a rehabbed one (pictured above) last year. Both $50 or less.

They only made them for one or two years. I think 2004 and 2005. They are fairly rare, but not impossible to find. But, in my opinion, they are the best of the Genesis line. Just don't expect to find one without the cabinet being totally rusted out. They cheaped out on that with regular steel.

And yes, that is duct tape on the left front leg.20190901_092435.jpg

Huh, is all I got. I think my distaste for stainless comes from having to work on Sabel Case Packaging machines...something like this, except maybe half again as long. Everything on the machine is SS, every nut, bolt, roller chain, maybe 2% of it was aluminum and plastic. Everything was air actuated. We had two of them.

I can understand the attraction for stainless in the wetter areas of the country, though, just out of practicality. I've got a Samsung SS refrigerator I'd like to toss out into the front yard, too.

On that picture I posted earlier of the Genesis Platinum, if you look closely, the SS burner cover must have closed while the burner was on...it is a very deep shade of blue...

Yep, not uncommon for the lids on the side burners to be scortched from some one closing the lid with it on. In the middle of the day, it is hard to see those nice blue flames. I wonder how many times people have left the burner on, closed it and then later tried to open it with out thinking and burned the snot out of their hand?

Yowwww!

That burner cover is pretty thin...it probably didn't take very long for it to start glowing...here's a pic of the underside.

And glow, it probably did.

But would you call that the Unicorn? As a rehab, do they sell fast where you're at?

EDIT: I can't believe someone would drive across the US for one. I think Jeff was kidding.

RE: Stainless Steel Platinum: Yah, they sell for more than a regular Genesis for sure. I don't remember what I got for that one last summer, but it was probably close to $400.

That one in the picture sat for over a month here. It's NG, and those seem to move slower here. It was almost 50 miles away, but it was an easy 50 miles from me.

Not really a fan of the SS Platinum. I like the older HD Platinums from the late 90s to the early 2000s.

Wasn't kidding about the drive...I have been known to get in the car and drive for loooong distances for something I really want...really perturbs the Wife.

Another example:

Over 900 miles round trip...
Yeah...I.m not right in the head,
