Thanks! You are al great! I saw mainly red head genesis 1000. Blue is an uncommon version. Honestly I would prefer a red one 😁
I think red and black were the most common color back then. I had a lot of different colored lids. Black, red, maroon, red, brown, green ,...
I decided to keep the blue one sell all the others. Blue is very hard to find here in the US.
So far your restoration looks very good. Also it looks like the warm and dry climate in Italy has preserved the grill very well.

I had put the blue out of my mind, said I’m good with the two gassers I have. Then I’m reminded I HAVE to have one! They are so cool!
 
An idea for the plastic container to use as bath tub for degreasing. Always thinking about reducing expenses or maximizing use of resources:

You can get away with using slightly less cleaning solution by standing the cookbox on its side, one side at a time. Instead of filling it all the way up to the red line, you can just fill up to the green line and stand it sideways.

Another idea for those who don't have an IKEA store nearby, the Container Store is in most cities/towns in the US. I'd argue that there are more options there than in IKEA.
