A 12 pack of drumsticks made me think of trying KFC - K meaning kettle in this case.
I brined the drumsticks for 4 hours And then drained them. Next I poured 2 cups of buttermilk over them with some (a lot) of Arizona Gunslinger hot sauce. After getting the kettle happy at 375 these yardbird legs were dusted with seasoned flour and a little cornmeal.
A charcoal basket on each side of a foil lined drip pan.
Drumsticks over the drip pan (I think Traeger sells that SS rack) sprayed with a little avocado oil, for 1 hour. Temp stayed really close to 375 the whole time.
I’m pretty happy with how they turned out. It isn’t exactly like deep fried chicken, but I bet there is only 3 tablespoons of oil on these. The fat in the skin does a good job of oiling the breading.
