First Cook on my Free Weber / Ducane Gasser

Got this SS Weber/Ducane three burner gasser a few days ago from a guy who said it was broken because when you opened the valve on the tank you could smell gas and it wouldn’t light. He had it sitting in front of his house with a “free” sign on it.
Well what the heck I dragged it home and put a bottle on it and yep just what he said.
Put a new regulator on it and bingo, fired right up. The thing is like new, came with a never used rotisserie, also the side burner was never used, even has an infrared burner for the roto plus it has a real nice cover too.

Here's a link that explains the Weber/Ducane relationship.

Did a little clean up on it and decided to see how it cooks.

Threw on a couple of pork chops with Weber’s roasted garlic and herb seasoning and #5 BBQ sauce and Barb made Brussels sprouts with balsamic vinegar and cranberries in the CI.
Both Barb and I were pleasantly surprised how well it cooked, we were able to do both dishes at the same time.
It gets hot real fast over 500 in about 10 minutes.

Going to take a while to get use to the north/south burners my other two gassers are east/west. My first impression is I like north/south configuration.

Yeah I know it’s just a gasser but it does cook well and come on its half Weber, so I had to save it.
I think it’s a keeper.

I think I'd like the N/S burner orientation. The summit that's sitting at the side of my house has that, & my regular genesis has east/west burners. That's a nice looking grill, definitely worth what you paid!

I've never heard of that grill before, but I'm envious :)
It's clearly a fine grill, that's a heck of a first cook on it
Congrats!!!

Very nice find Rich. Glad you are happy with it. Shouldn't be surprised however, anything Weber is top notch. You did an excellent job cleaning/fixing it up. Pork chops look wonderful.

Hard to argue with free=:-) Nnice score, and a nice looking grill! Good looking cook to boot!!! So will any gas regulator work or are there specs to be considered when fitting a regulator Rich? I ask as I know nothing about gas grills

There are many different types of regulators. The ones sold at the big box stores are fixed low pressure and our suitable for most home grills. The one I have is a brinkman with a 3/8 hose which is more than enough for the Ducane. They come with the fitting to attach the regulator to the tank and a hose that attaches to the manifold, easy swap. Attach the hose to the manifold and then attach the regulator to the tank, get a bowl of soapy water turn on the gas and apply the soapy water to the fitting at the manifold and at where the hose joins the regulator which should be attached already if no bubbles appear you're good to go.

Hey Rich and Barb: Now you have to update your Sig Line.....Weber / Ducane Gasser;) hehe.

Bonus plan...The thing is like new, came with a never used rotisserie, also the side burner was never used, even has an infrared burner for the roto plus it has a real nice cover too.

Some great gasser grilling to come, sometime thing are meant to be.

That's a great looking grill. Can't believe someone threw it out. Very nice find! Very nice meal also. The grill is probably much happier with you two cooking on it!:)
