Curb Alert !!!

Nice, I would clean that baby up and sell it. Easy money unless the bottom is rotted out.
I am going to strip it for parts and probably put the rest to the curb.
It is a shame because it looks good at the cook box crossmember.
I am using the blue lid on my Platinum B and I hope to use the left black trim piece on my Platinum Silver B.

That is a shame. I have found that if you ask sellers or even givers, they always say it looks just fine, only a little dirty. Clearly, they are either just trying to sell a grill or they don't have the same standards that we all have. It could have a classic grade A case of weber fade and they will say it looks good.

I have been lucky. I have nicely asked and got good detail pictures multiple times. Definitely a bit of a gamble every time though. I try to see what I know is good and what parts I can use to decide if it's worth it. The unknowns I just expect the worst and hope for the best

Or you ask for more pictures of the lid and they send you two pics of the wheels

Honestly may be worth grabbing just for the Skyline factor
I already have one with some fade. I have checked on more and every time at least some fade and talking to others it seems the majority have at least some fade. I'm kind of over it. I have different grill priorities now. They are a cool piece of Weber history though. If I found a NOS Skyline lid I would be interested.

Being from Chicago I have a different viewpoint on it. But I get it

My wife, Faith, is from Chicago area, and I went to grad school at the University of Chicago.
My dream Skyline was conceived and built from various parts in South Florida, my home most of my life.
This picture seems to capture its story:blackgenesis1000:.
The Skyline Series will always be extra special to me.

I know what you are saying, Hank. I guess I am OK with a modest fade to have a Skyline. The last one that I did, originally thinking of keeping but then in a fit of sanity deciding to sell, had only a small amount of fade. It was in good enough shape that applying some "Pimp My Grill" metal treatment was enough to make it shiny black. That isn't a permanent fix, but for light fade it does make them look a lot better.
