Curb Alert !!!

I got it. I have a story behind it though.

Well, I have to say the grill was in about as good of shape as you could expect for a first generation Genesis.
I did find out why he listed it as a Genesis 4 and not Genesis 5. It started out as a 4 but he bought the side burner and glass doors and put them on. I think maybe at the store as I have heard they commonly did back in the day. I have the manual, original receipt and other paperwork for it. No real structural rust that I saw, just some surface rust leaking out of the tubes in a couple places. I still need to do a good look over but the wood is in very good shape. I didn't note the condition of the Z bars. The control panel and side burner look new. I didn't notice any rust on the drip pan. One slide rail was shot on the cook box. The Flame Check is inop. He was told by weber to just lay a rock on it....which he did and gave me the rock. I think it still has original burners. Flavo bars looked pretty good. Cheapo ceramic coated stamped steel. The smoker box was probably not salvageable. It has a virtually new set of both warming racks. Lid looked real good on intial once over. It has two serving trays in good shape as well.
OK, now for the bad. The older couple that sold it to me was really nice but too friendly really. He helped me wheel it from the back deck to the drive way and then up on my trailer which was nice, but he just wouldn't quit. I started stripping parts that don't do well in transit and I grabbed the grates and flavo bars and side shelf and was putting them in the bin in my truck when I hear "Crash". Yep, he was trying to get the bottom shelves out of the cabinet (which I wasn't going to take out anyway) and dislodged one of the glass doors in the process. It was laying there in a million pieces. UGGGGHHHHH. The wife offered to refund me, but after a two hour one way, I couldn't just pass on the grill. So, now I am in the hunt for a glass door. I know finding one local is going to be tough, but maybe someone on the forum has an orphaned one they would be willing to let go.

That back wheel insert looks perfect. The back one seems to always look better than the front one on my grills that I get. I usually switch them and put the better one in the front.

I just ordered a set of those wide white reproduction inserts. Should be here anytime
