Curb Alert !!!

Yah, Tom, I see the same thing. I had a year where I was picking up green heads right and left. Then I would get a run of dk gray, then maroon. I used to get a lot of reds, but for the last few years, not so many. More blacks than usual the last couple years. Oh, the SS Lid grills come in waves too.

Lid color is cyclical in my neck of the woods, it seems. I went 2 seasons without a red and now I’ve got them coming out my ears lately. I do get an occasional green coming through the queue, but I’ve been without a blue for at least 18 months…unless you count the 2 burner blue lid I’m about ready to throw away. I can’t believe that nobody in my local area wants an unblemished freebie blue lid but I’ve tried to find it a new home for months now.
Seems the blue lids have quite a following here. I bet if one of these guys was close to you they'd come and grab it! The red lids aren't my absolute favorite but I do like them and also have them coming out of my ears and I think that they very much look the historical Weber part. I've been lucky enough to find the stuff that I've been looking for so far. I'm lucky in that I don't seem to have much competition when it comes to picking up these old webers. They kind of just sit there until I'm ready to pick them up about nine times out of 10. Washington State and Arizona are the places I pick from but primarily Washington and atleast anywhere near my area is very much a throwaway society. If it's old it automatically means it's no good. The older I get the more my thinking is the reverse of this and I've come to very much appreciate older things that were built right and built to last. I think it's pretty cool that I can restore a 30 to 40 year old barbecue that will out live and outlast me.

I know I already told you but I hope to see more of your restorations on here Tom. You do nice work.
