Started out the day in the shade of the neighbor's 25 year old oak tree.

Made a BBQ sauce earlier in the day for these 1.5 inch chops that I got at the butcher shop on Friday.

The cook is to smoke the chops on the 26er at 350 for about 40 minutes until the chops temp to 120. Wine barrel staves were used for the smoke. Wine barrel staves have become a favorite of mine for pork.

Seems like it is getting sunnier in the backyard all of the sudden.

This guy was really enjoying his job today and he also made me aware that he hadn't packed a lunch for the day.

All of the noise from the chain saws and wood chipper really had the pup on alert all day.

We had just picked up the "new" bed with a shade at a garage sales that we were walking by earlier in the day, good thing, without the tree the pup will need some shade.

While the chops were smoking I started to get the performer ready for the hot grilling.

And the pup is still on high alert

One thing we will never do in our house is to spoil a dog, no way no how.

I'm always sad to see the old trees go, but the chops & pup made up for that. Nice Sunday.

Glad to see you around again Jim. Gorgeous chops and the plate is magazine quality. Love the "security" pup. I could put that tree guy to work on a few pines on the property here.

Love the smell of wine barrel staves! Your chops looks excellent!! Great color! I bet they were very tasty!!!

Super Looking Food!!

Great looking plate James, love the size of those chops. Even though they don't look the same I think our pups are related.

Awesome cook James, those chops look fantastic. Sorry about the tree, but I see the pup took it alright. Now I wouldn't
say he is spoiled just resting in the late afternoon before dinner!! Maybe a small piece from dad.

Killer Chops James! Tell me you harvested some of that Oak tree. Excellent cooking wood (in about two years)
