Beer.

This year I began sending my homebrew off to competitions to get anonymous feedback on my ability to brew. I mean, it’s great when your family and friends like your projects, but what about someone who doesn’t care about your feelings. I plan to do more of this in 2025. This is the 2024 result:

There’s a local brewery that does specials around certain holidays. Either a pizza and wings for $25 or a pizza and a 4 pack of tall boys for the same. They’re also giving 25% off of a 4 pack
For NYE, we got a mushroom pizza and a 4 pack with a second 4 pack for good measure
I got a 4 pack of Pilsner and one of a west coast style IPA 🍻

Happy New Year to everyone! :)

Enjoying an afternoon with the family, college football, and good beer. The very last can of my Southwest roadtrip haul. (y)

So, IDK if anyone else has seen it, but Costco has contracted with a Washington craft brewery and they're making a very nice true German style Lager. So I bought a 12 pack this week for dad's party and was amazed how really good it is. Very pleased with it

Happy Friday, everyone!

Found a new nearby brewery - Ketch Brewing in the Kearny Mesa area of San Diego.

We got a four flight pour

Ketch Kolsch - German Style Blonde Ale
Pacific Swell - West Coast Pilsner
Hazy Conditions - Hazy IPA
Celestial Navigation - San Diego Style IPA

We picked the Hazy and the IPA for full pours with some delicious fish tacos

Definitely on the rotation list for a return visit.

What favorite beer or new beer are you having now?
Our youngest daughter brought 3 beers back from Australia. A Cooper's Original Pale Ale, a John Boston Golden Ale and a Stone Wood Pacific Ale. They're in the fridge chilling down right now. Can't wait to try them. Just haven't been up to brewing since the sinus surgery 6 or 7 weeks ago but will be starting again in the next week or 2.

Cooper's makes some good stuff.

I had an open tech support call a few years ago with a company based Down Under. He asked me to create a specific account with the password "RealAustraliansDontDrinkFosters". I chuckled and said "I can work with you!"

Really enjoyed the John Boston Golden Ale. The Cooper's and Stone Wood were meh.

I have a Pacific Ale homage on deck for later this Summer. I am really looking forward to that beer!

Hope you all are having a good Saturday.

Rain is gone, got some blue sky - sun feels good. Enjoying a cold one on the back patio
