Anyone know something about the Landmann Pellet Kettle?

This is an interesting entry. It doesn't seem to have a PID controller, and I suppose the construction materials are not the best - Recteq beats this for sure with the Bullseye. But, it has some strong points as well. Notably it has grease drainage & management whereas Recteq's Bullseye counts on the grease to incinerate. This would seem to be a much better setup when you want to do some low and slow. Also has a slide aside for doing high heat grilling. And, with the 22" kettle shape, Weber kettle grates - and with the right grate, GBS attachments - would fit right in.

There is a place not too far from me hawking an unused one for only $180. That's pretty hard to resist. Even if it only lasted a few years it would be a cheap but adaptable solution for my "second pellet grill" wish.

I can't find much about this grill or company. Seems like they have a better following in Europe. Anybody have any insights?

Sam's Club used to carry them for $299. Mixed reviews. If you go to landmann.com, click on this grill and then hit "buy" it will take you to SC and you can read the reviews.

Jon, I have no knowledge of the Landmann and I wouldn't presume to advise you on this.
With your knowledge of grills of all types you're the right one to make this call.

Not wild about the small side tables, not big enough for a half sheet pan safely from what I see. I wonder if they have one at Sams club. Wife’s son has a membership.
Rich speaks great wisdom, the piece of meat you put on there could be as expensive these days!

I don't have much faith in a $300 Pellet Grill
Well, I tend to agree. But a $180 new pellet grill is almost a "use and toss" like a microwave oven. If I am able, I plan to stop and look at it on the way home from a day trip to Indianapolis. I have to say I am highly tempted since it fits the bill in many respects for what I need - a 2nd grill for bbq events. It could easily do 2 or 3 pork shoulders leaving me room on my much larger Recteq for ribs, etc. And, I guess I would at least try it for grilling burgers or steaks once in a while, but I have plenty of gas and charcoal grills for that. If I fall prey to the low price an buy it, I will be happy if I get 2 or 3 years out of it. It sounds like if it does fail I won't have an ideal customer support. I would point out again that one very positive to me is that it has grease management unlike the otherwise very nice Recteq Bullseye.

Landmann has been around as a brand for at least several years, albeit as a bit of an economy brand. Biggest thing that's kept me from ever seriously considering their products is a lack of build quality.

Well I am sure that is true. This does appear to be Landmann's 2nd generation pellet kettle. While I don't really like the copper color, it does show several improvements over the earlier black model. I won't be a heavy or abusive user, and I will keep it uncovered inside my garage. It's small profile will help with that. Of course, if it seems really pathetic I will pass on it, even for $180. I would much rather have a SmokeFire EX4 anyway.

Jon, I’m looking forward to an op-Ed regarding the thing if you have time to look it over. Not planning on any more purchases until after the holidays, Amazon is loving me right now, I’m getting quite a bit done nicely early but, I know I’ll have to go out for some stuff. Most likely feasting goods!
