A special 4th

We had a quiet 4th, I was going to do some pulled pork or pepper stout beef but, as I’ve said before we haven’t had any rain or snow in nine months. So on the 3rd the county banned the use of any charcoal grills or wood fires anywhere in the county. So no way to use the mini or performer to make what we wanted.

I yanked a boneless rib eye out of the freezer and a baked potato and cooked them up on the gasser.
While I was getting the grill ready the best thing that could happen on this 4th of July, it started raining and it’s came down steady for a good hour.

That’s why there isn’t any grill shots I was too busy watching it rain with the biggest stupidest grin you’ve ever seen. Even the pups were watching it come down.

I don’t know how wide spread it was but more is on the way and I’m sure the fire fighters here in Arizona are breathing a sigh of relief.

Good eye Jim the grass is fake but the tree is the real deal. The folks who owned the house before us were from Wisconsin and wanted a little bit of the feel of home so they planted a pine in the back and front. About every two weeks I drag the vacuum out and vacuum the grass:p no watering, no weeds, no mowing, no fertilizer, love it!

It is hard to look at mini or performer with the knowledge that you they can not be use:(
Nothing less, gasser did a good job and food on the plate looks great!
It will be better buddy.

Yard is awesome looking. Is that a gravel bed stream running from one side to the other?

Yes it does. The rain cutters drain into the creek at both sides of the house and then it drains out to the street. Sounds really nice with the water running over the rocks.

Rich, great to see you getting some rain there. We have had a cool & rainy afternoon here today. Humidity is 45% usually 0.
Hope that you start to see more rain down that way & it moves up this way.
Nice boneless rib steak & tater too.

Nice cook Rich! Sucks you can't use the charcoal toys! Were in a drought also Hope they don't get that idea here!

Congratulations on your rain and a very fine cook Rich & Barb!

Back in July 2011 we had relatives here from OK, and they had been if a long drought period down there,
It started raining here, and our great-niece just had to go on the deck to enjoy it.
Kind of the vision I got of you two. :)

Looks delicious...
That's too bad you can't use your charcoal grills. How long will the ban be in effect?
