Built a Tandoor oven out of flower pots. It's meant to cook skewers hot and fast and to bake Naan bread.
Used 3 pots. 1x15" 1x10" 1x8.5"
Filled with vermiculite to use as insulation for the pot. It's not flammable and it has high heat retention.

Cut off bottom and used it as a lid.



1st test I put 4 good size lump charcoal and let the pot pre-heat for 1 hour.


About 4-5 min. The I.T was 165. Crispy exterior, juicy inside.

It is pretty fuel efficient.
Temp after 3 hours 800F
4 hours = 600
5 hours = 300
Need to try this out with Tandoori Chicken, apparently the high heat brings out the flavour of the Greek yogurt.
