4 Rib Roast on the 22" Kettle

The Christmas gift I asked for was a rotisserie for the kettles, and my bride did indeed get me one, she also surprised with with a big old 22" WSM

This cook wasn't easy, I could not get the pitt temps down. I had the bottom and top vents closed most if not all the time, and I was running high 400 / low 500 - I think there's a lot of drafts due to the rotisserie, so I will need to practice up a bit. Another problem might have been the two bottles of Costco Spiced Rum. That did have an pretty good effect on my guests and myself

We did a butter spice roast baste. Going on:

The bones fell away when untied (glad I tied it, thanks Chris A for the video how to tie)

No plated picture but it was pretty good, no complaints at all by me, other than needing to get a handle on the pitt temp and maybe not so many spiced rums, LOL

We fire pitted to all hours of the night

Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas, it was wonderful for me. I'm really liking adult children. Nothing against youngsters, but I thrilled with my adult kids.

That looks excellent Chuck, nice cook. I really want to get a roti for the performer, but when I bring it up I get the "you have enough grilling toys" look from the finance minister/war department and she's right...unfortunately.

So many great meals out there, this is another one to add to the list. Perfect looking roast you have there Chuck.

Looks great, Chuck, even if you did fight your temps. The rotisserie has plenty of air gaps, so judicious charcoal volume control has become the norm for me. In the end, I accept a much wider range of cooking temps, since I find "control" to be elusive. :)

Enjoy those new toys!

Very nice looking roast! To control temps I stuff strips of wadded aluminum foil in the cracks around the ring for better control of the air flow.

I use my smokenator with my rotisserie when I want lower temps. Works very well. Roast looks perfect to me, nice work.
