    Help: Valve Replacement Summit Charcoal

I have a Summit Charcoal Grill (not the grilling station) and the regulator on the gas assist went bad after about 6 months. I called Weber and they promptly sent a new one. On paper replacing it looked to be simple however nothing could be further from the truth. There is simply not enough...

    How Much Meat?

We are having 12 people over for BBQ. I have a 7lb boston butt but I'm afraid that isn't going to be enough. I was thinking there was a rule of thumb like 1/2 lb per person which would barely be enough. Does anyone have suggestions? Thanks, Mark

    14.5" WSM Door Gaps

Mine is the same way. I also have an 18.5 & I noticed the difference right away. I contacted Weber & they sent me a new door but it was the same way. The only way I know to fix it would be with the gasket material.

    14.5 so easy to use!

David I put a 4.5lb brisket on this morning (1st cook). It came up to temp quickly I made two adjustments & it locked in at 230. We returned from church & it was holding steady. I'm guessing the cook should be between 6 & 7 hours; I'm anxious to see how the charcoal holds up for that...

    WSM Cart Dimensioned Drawing

Scott your way sounds more functional. I too keep my wsm in the garage. It's not bad dragging it out although I'd prefer it had a permanent place to live. As Tim stated a dimensioned drawing wouldn't be necessary. I came up with dimensions similar to the performer dimensions that will work if I...

    WSM Cart Dimensioned Drawing

I saw this cart some time back & contacted Jamie about a drawing but never heard back. I don't know if he is still active on the site any more. My question to you all is has anyone built a cart similar to this? If so would you be willing to share drawings? Second question: if you have built a...

    Trouble Getting Temp Up

Bobby I'd 1st check the gauge with boiling water to remove any question about the gauge accuracy. 2nd I recommend filling the charcoal ring full not just one chimney. Then pour about 15 lit coals on top of that. Open all the vents and wait for it to come up to temp. You'll be throttling...

    18.5" WSM Grill Strap Problem

I received a new WSM 18.5 last week. I put it together & the top cooking grate isn't supported on all four sides of the grill straps. When I push it forward it falls down onto the second grate. I contacted Weber regarding this & they are sending new grill straps. The problem was either the grate...

Charcoal Grate Modification & mid section handle question

I have a new style 18" WSM & want to place an additional charcoal grate in the bottom. Do I purchase another 18" WSM charcoal grate # 63013 or a 18" kettle grate # 307440? How hot do the Genie handles get hot when you cook? Can you use your bare hands to lift the mid section? If I use the...

    Wsm 2820

Everyone thanks for your assistance & willingness to help. I also located an old thread under the modifications forum (about 14 pages in) where a guy had replaced his old legs with the new legs. The holes were the same location but one of the holes in the heat shield didn't line up so he punched...

    Wsm 2820

I'm looking at an older WSM 2820. Can anyone tell me if the feet on the newer style will fit on the 2820? I contacted Weber but they couldn't tell me.

    WSM BBQ Gasket Install

Thanks Gary - That was what I thought but before I did it I wanted to confirm. I don't have a torch so I'll let the fire in the cooker do the curing. Thanks Mark

    WSM BBQ Gasket Install

I purchased a gasket kit from BBQGaskets.com & installed in on the door & the top of the mid section but I can't see a "good place" to install the bottom gasket. It's either on the top of the bottom section or the bottom of the mid section. Either way there is no lip for the gasket to lay flat...

    Brown Residue Inside Smoker

Thanks Chris. I am new to cooking on the WSM & wanted clarification to determine if I had done something incorrect. This had not occurred on any of the previous cooks. Moving forward I will not be concerned about the build up.

    Brown Residue Inside Smoker

The other day I was smoking ribs. Late in the cooking process I tossed a few small wood chunks on the coals below. My thought was that it would give the meat a little extra kiss of flavor & it did. I noticed a couple of days later when I went to clean the grill that there was a baked on brown...

    18.5" vs 22.5" WSM

Mark - Thanks for the clarification. The majority of my cooks are for our family of 4 but there are always the occasions where the extended family shows up & additional food requirements are necessary. I'd rather have too much space than not enough.

    18.5" vs 22.5" WSM

Robert - Thanks for your input. What you are saying about having the 18" & wishing you had the 22" is what I don't want to happen. Regarding learning from mistakes; I have always said that many times we learn when it costs us time & or money.

    18.5" vs 22.5" WSM

I'm in the market for a WSM but I'm confused as to what size to purchase. The more I read the more confused I've become. I'm leaning toward the 22.5 because I like the idea of being able to lay three or 4 slabs of ribs on the grate at without cutting them in half & using a rib rack. I also like...
