Thoughts/ opinions on using falx seed oil?

Linda, I'm ready to move to flax seed oil after years of Crisco & canola oil. Ms. Canter's blog and logic make sense. I've got a bunch of CI that needs re-conditioning so I'll report back later. I've got the materials to try both electrolysis & lye methods. I'll go flax seed oil either way. Ken...

    Price check help, please.

I'm posting in the gas grill forum as opposed to the trading post because it is a gas grill. " WEBER STAINLESS STEEL SUMMIT PLATINUM D4 LP GAS GRILL W/ SIDE BURNER AND SIDE TRAY. " Is $900.00 a fair price for s SS gasser that looks nice in pictures? thanks! Ken <new to gas grills>

Convert gasser from Natural to LP?

Well I saw a similar thread in the Gas Grill section. Weber doesn't want to sell conversion parts? I guess that's why we don't have the cool gasser kit for kettles like they do in Australia.

Convert gasser from Natural to LP?

Saw a Natural Gas Summit on CL this morning. Only downside it was a Natural Gas version & I'd need LP. I'd assume I'd need to change some metering orifice, the regulator and connector hose (who knows what else?). Is this a practical conversion? How much are parts? thanks, Ken (from Atlanta)

    Nomex flight gloves

Mark, Nomex flight gloves have very thin (like kidskin) leather palms and fingers. They also wear quickly at the thumbs and seams. I assume they are to give good dexterity and protect a pilots hand's from a "flash-over" fire till he/her can get their butt out of the seat. I know from personal...

    Cast Iron Pizza Pan

Hey Rita, I just got a 18.5" Kettle Pizza rig and recently paid a visit to the Lodge Factory Store in South Pittsburg, TN. I'll report back once I start making pizza(s) on a stone & CI Lodge pizza pan. There's also a factory store in Commerce. Ken (ready for pizza) ps: General Hardware in...

    For cast iron lovers

Good Luck to them. New Lodge Logic pre-seasoned is hard to beat. I've read the article cited and have a bottle of flax seed oil (food safe linseed oil) and an old skillet or two ready to re-season. Ken (from Atlanta - proud to have Mom's cast iron skillet)

    "the best BBQ Store"

I think so,thanks for saving me a long drive. Rocky Mountain on Roswell Road is close and next on the lists. A pal has an egg, so we may head to the BGE world headquarters. He wants an XL, so I may get his old large one.

Okay, I made off with the neighbor's peach tree. Now what?

My bandsaw has never picked up a piece of wood and thrown it at me like the table saw did (yeah, operator error). I'll cross cut round wood on a bandsaw, not try and split it. Save the planet manual method: Build a small v-shaped trough about 2 foot long with a stable base {a small sawbuck} to...

Okay, I made off with the neighbor's peach tree. Now what?

As I'm a tool junkie too, I'd view a load of smoking wood as a chance to buy a new tool. I'd first cut it up and split it like firewood so it can dry & season. There are tons of sites on how to keep it off the ground, stack it for circulation and cover it to protect from rain. Split some into...

    "the best BBQ Store"

From Larry Olmsted's blog in FORBES http://blogs.forbes.com/larryo...-the-best-bbq-store/ I'm still looking for a "great" store in Atlanta. BBQ USA was close, but they closed their stores in Atlanta. I think there's a BBQ store WAY up in OTP Alpharetta, I'll pack a lunch and head that way...

Grilling story from the Times UK

all, Here's a grilling story from the Times UK: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/foo...-super-barbecue.html This quote "turn steaks every 15-30 seconds" from Nathan Myhrvold's massive new cook book surprised me. That goes against EVERYTHING I've read & heard before. What do y'all think? Ken (from...

Sharp like a razor, or dull like a burned out lightbulb?

You will likely get many opinions, there's more than solution. I have a full set of japanese waterstones, but they can be a mess and are down in the basement with the wood working tools. In the kitchen, I reach for my Spyderco system. Quick, compact and easy, it has 2 grits of ceramic sticks...

    Damper Tabs HOT...

The damper tabs as supplied from Weber will not work on the WSM tabs without modification. The vertical part of the damper handle has two small holes which firmly snap over the two dimples on the tab of a newer grill like a 18.5" or a 22.5". Older grills (like my old red MasterTouch) do not...

    Grilling on the deck

I cook on a wooden deck. I keep a terra cotta flower pot holder <I'm no gardener - it's about 14" across and has a 1" high lip> You can get them at any garden shop, they come in different sizes. A metal drip pan for under cars could also work, any decent parts store should have them in various...

    BBQ Places in Atlanta Ga.

No smoke ordinances I'm aware of in Fulton or Dekalb county. Brick Pit in Chambee uses real wood and you can darn sure smell it inside, same for Harold's or Daddy Dz. I don't understand why some folks get all hot & bothered by Pig n' Chik. A plate with a couple of sides and tea seems to run...

    BBQ Places in Atlanta Ga.

You should try Harold's BBQ 171 McDonough Blvd SE. 404-627-9268. The Hembree family opened up in 1947, there's a branch down near Fort Gillem in Forest Park, too. It's near the Federal Pen where Al Capone served time and the old GM Lakewood assembly plant. It's about a mile from Turner Field, a...
