    One Touch Platinum vs Performer

So, I just have to say: I TOLD YOU SO! Not just you, I tell everyone to buy a Performer. It is a significantly different grilling experience. Until one has used it repeatedly, one just does not understand. Oh, and the air leaks are not around the gas tube, but rather through it. And...

    One Touch Platinum vs Performer

Buy a Performer. You will not regret it at all. The gas assist makes charcoal lighting so easy, it is child's play. Get it in Brick Red - because years from now us collectors will pay a premium to get the rare color!

do these look like 26" kettles?

Those are most definitely both 22.5" kettles. 26.75" kettles are easy to visually spot. Look at Jeff's photos above. 1. A 26.75" lid has a very broad shouldered lid profile, a pretty wide flat top area, then nearly squared off at the outer edge of the lid to drop down to the bowl. A 22.5"...

Which Grill would you choose? Wife gave the thumbs up to get a 3rd cooking device!

Buy a Performer. Visitors to my home are amazed at the ease of charcoal cooking with a Performer. Sure, you could use a weed burner, or propane torch, or a chimney, or firestarters. They each function well to ignite a fire. But, with a Performer, it is all built in. Twist a knob, hit the...

Very very old Weber - my newest addition!!

Absolutely Awesome! Congratulations. This needs to be offered to Weber first, who may trade you something new for it (Performer, 26.75, 22.5 WSM, Ranch, etc) if you agree. They don't buy items, trade only. Or, it needs to be put on eBay, and sold to the highest bidder. There are collectors...

    Weber Family Portraits

"Over? Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Not until we say its over!" - Belushi. Keep collecting! Very nice collection, Mike! Love seeing the Wood Dale specified!! There was a red one on eBay last fall near York, PA, but the seller wouldn't ship. I really wanted it just...

    SS Performer

The original SS Ps used a refillable 5 lbs LP tank. Looks just like a 20 lber, but smaller. Current plastic table Ps use a Coleman style disposable 14.4 oz tank. Sorry no tank pics, but P pics are all over.

Help with One Touch System Repairs

Congratulations on the Performer. Similar thread. Seems the related pics in that thread are no longer available, but the two tabs holding the control rod need to be pinched slightly to allow the rod to be extracted. IIRC, a screwdriver is inserted above the rod, then a twist helps get it apart.

New to charcoal and need tips

The lid therm does not represent the temp at the cooking grate. So, you'll to adjust the cook to allow for the difference. The therm is not wrong, because that is the temp at that location, it is just not the temp where the food is cooking. On my P, I find the temp is as much as 35 degrees...

So, Jeff, now I know why the eBay auction of the NIB brown SJ ended early last month.

    1999 Red Performer Needing Care

Dave, congratulations on getting a Performer, especially in RED! You can download an Owner's Manual, if you don't have one, and review the parts schematic carefully to determine any parts you may need for the restoration. Then, call Weber Customer Service at 1-800-446-1071, and order the...

    Fantasy Grill

There certainly is a factory store open to the public in Palatine. It is just west of Hicks Rd at NW Hwy, on south side of railroad tracks. If southbound on Hicks Rd, turn right (west) at the first stoplight south of the RR tracks, which is Sellstrom Drive. Go one block north on Sellstrom...

    ash catcher

Look here, or see the parts list here. Also, view Rich Langer's slide show of the mod . Some associated pics in the links are no longer available. Basically, order 3 parts. A new ash catcher ring, bowl, and handle. Then, cut slots in the leg stubs to fit the new ring. Good luck. Weber will...

    OTG vs. Performer?

By all means, get a Performer. <BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content"> gas assist, charcoal storage, transportable cart, slide aside lid holder, utensil hooks, storage shelf underneath and it also sits taller...

    To Gas or Coal?

I do brats indirect, and certainly get a smoke ring in 'em. So the taste will be much better, and different, when done over charcoal. Use natural lump charcoal also. And, congrats on the Performer. What color? New redesigned 2010 version, 2005-2009 plastic table, or original SS table...

    What's the deal with Red?

If you are just looking for a grill to cook on, you can save a little money, and just look for a black one. If you want one you can use, and will hold its value, you could buy this one and sell it for at least $60 at any time in the future. And, especially because it is a Mastertouch, with the...

    Missouri > Dexter: Hickory Log

1314 Business Hwy 60. 573-624-4950. Website has a photo slideshow to peruse. Stopped on the way thru town yesterday. Spoke to one of the owners, Jason Banken. He was very personable and gracious, kind enough to show me their pits. They have 6 old fashioned brick pits on the backside of the...

    2010 One Touch Platinum-feedback?

Over the last several years, I too have noticed that the lids on new ones seem to be thinner. However, I think if one were to weigh it, or use a micrometer to verify if the new metal is thinner, the results would show that they are the same. Lids build up the gunk/barbegoo on the inside, which...

    Performer Charcoal Bin Lid

RD, it should remain open once it is past vertical. At least until a gust of wind blows it shut! That hinge rod is bowed across it's length. I would make sure it is fully seated in the lid, so that it is not under tension. Although, it obviously is under some tension, because it slams your...
