I see no one has answered your question so I will give you the benefit of my thoughts.
I do believe this can be done. I would contact Weber Customer Service to see if you can obtain the parts through them. You can also download the owners manual for the OTG to determine the parts you'll need.

Basically, order 3 parts. A new ash catcher ring, bowl, and handle. Then, cut slots in the leg stubs to fit the new ring. Good luck.
Weber will discourage this mod, so you may not want to say you are trying to upgrade a silver. Rather, tell 'em you need replacement parts for your gold, the old ones are just in bad shape.
