Weber 57cm lid question for a UDS

Hello, I was going to build a mini-WSM but lack of a suitable pot in the UK has sent me down the UDS route. I'd like to have a Weber kettle lid and am trying to figure out the best options. Weber UK quoted me over £200 for a new lid - mental!!! A used 57cm would be perfect but they're hard...

    Steamer pot in the UK?

Well my excitement didn't last too long. The pots they assured me were the Sonex turned out to be mastercook. One of them was close, the bottom diameter though was only 34.1cm which without testing in a SJ seemed too small. Somebody suggested a different Indian superstore, which had an aisle...

    Steamer pot in the UK?

Thanks Stephen, I just hope it's not the 28 litre heavy ground one instead.

New BBQ day in the UK - a charcoal Go Anywhere - any tips?

Thanks Jim. Not too bad a spot for a cold one and a little piece of chicken!

    Steamer pot in the UK?

I think I might have found one of the Sonex pots. I just called a local Indian store and they said they definitely had the 28 litre pot. Fingers crossed! might head over later and pick a couple if the price is right. Getting excited about finally building a mini now!

My build - the first Welsh Mini-WSM?

Thanks for trying Sian, I do appreciate it. I might try a few Indian supermarkets in Bristol and see if they have any. Cheers Dave

47cm One touch blades fitted onto a Smokey Joe?

The advantage would be a that you'd be able to sweep out the ashes like on the one touch kettles. Useful for longer cooks. And are those daisy wheels available to buy?

47cm One touch blades fitted onto a Smokey Joe?

Has anyone ever fitted these onto a smokey joe to sort out the ash problem? I was thinking a Smokey Joe Gold/Premium with these fitted would work pretty well? I guess you'd have to bend and maybe even trim the blades as well as drilling a couple of holes per blade. What do you think...

    Steamer pot in the UK?

Thanks Phil, who sells that? Is that the link on this site? I'm hoping that Simon will confirm how well the Macro pot fits and maybe post some photos of his build. There's a Macro nearby but I don't yet have the Smokey Joe, still deciding on which version to get and try and find one used...

    Steamer pot in the UK?

Absolutely! If it fits well I may have to go this way but at the moment I'm asking my brother who lives in Albany to see if he can get a Vasconia and work out a cheap way of sending it to me. Crazy! Cheers

    Steamer pot in the UK?

I've found a couple that look right online but have no way of knowing if they'll fit, tis a shame.

My build - the first Welsh Mini-WSM?

I've tried Sonex themselves in India who bounced me to a UK distributor who've said they're out of stock. I've found a couple of other pots online that look right and state 35cm but people don't seem that keen to go and measure their pots! Whatever happened to customer service? ;)

My build - the first Welsh Mini-WSM?

Well I gave them a ring, very helpful but they no longer stock it. they might be getting a replacement brand in but won't know if it will fit. Thought I finally had one then!

Which smokey joe for a mini WSM.

Am I right that with the tuna can with holes, the holes are higher up than the holes in the Gold? Does anyone know if anyone still sells the vent covers that would be a good fit for the sides of a Smokey Joe?

Which smokey joe for a mini WSM.

Sounds like a good option would be SJS with a couple of WSM type vents added. But neither the SJS or the vent knits seem to be available in the UK anymore. I guess I'll watch out for something used. Thanks for the advice.

Which smokey joe for a mini WSM.

Thanks Tim, Reading through the thread the SJG seems more popular, although I still have 20 or so pages left. Whichever I get, adding 18" WSM vents might be a plan anyway. Cheers Dave

Which smokey joe for a mini WSM.

Although, i'm 60 pages into the original thread and many people are saying gold is best as the tin can with holes in can get covered on long cooks. Confused now! http://tvwbb.com/showthread.php?22543-S-J-Gold-Mini-WSM-Smoker/page60
