Weber 57cm lid question for a UDS

Hello,

I was going to build a mini-WSM but lack of a suitable pot in the UK has sent me down the UDS route. I'd like to have a Weber kettle lid and am trying to figure out the best options.

Weber UK quoted me over £200 for a new lid - mental!!!

A used 57cm would be perfect but they're hard to find close by. That would also mean i had the grates as well.

If i had to buy new, the compact is the cheapest but the question is: is the compact lid the same size as the one touch? It's hard to tell but it looks like it might be less tall and i think i'd like the full height.

Any thoughts?

Cheers
Dave

I can't comment on the compact because we don't have them here.

Something else to consider is a Cajun Bandit type stacker ring.
Mark, on the Kettle forum had this barrel section built at a local sheet metal shop.
Make the height to your specifications.
Add a OTS or a OTG and you're in business.

It caught me off guard to see my ring in the post.
It is so useful it's not even funny. For Beer Can Chickens it's by far the best. I have an 18.5 WSM so I haven't tried to smoke with it, but with the second set of winged grates it doubles my grilling capacity. It's only good for indirect grilling for obvious reasons, but I can see someone smoking with it.

What is better to use for pictures.
I'm just kidding.
Shutterfly uses some strange, non-standard code so I have to do a couple of extra steps.

A lot of folks use Photobucket.
I use Tiny Pic but I first have to re-size.
I use Irfanview to re-size and touch up then they go to Tiny Pic.
I grab the pic's forum code and then paste it in my post.
I use Gadwin Systems Printscreen to clip and swipe from screenshots.

All of the above is free.
