What year is the Weber?

I'm new to restoration in these and this has no stickers or just faded. I'd like to know what year this could be or where to look

Howdy Pete,

Look directly above the propane tank. There should be a serial number that starts with 2 letters. There is also a sticker on the right side on mine. Those letters represent the year

I will place the first bet: Genesis 1100. :D

Update: Forgot we had this post with photos of a brand new Genesis 1100 in red:

Plain 1000 has wire storage shelf down below. 1000 LX and 1100 have slats. 1200 is Skyline for Sears.

I guess I should revise my guess to 1000 LX or 1100. :D

Nice, I'll take a look. The sticker on the side is just faded to all white. Is the serial # raised lettering on the frame?

No, Weber can't seem to get past the stupid stickers for their grills and the stickers they use don't stand up very well to the elements.

Yeah, this is what I'm working with. Lol. I can see a little bit of an imprint but it's hard to decipher.

What is the main difference between 1000lx and 1100lp?? By the looks from the pics, maybe thinner slats on the bottom rack. Other than that, idk other specifications.
I wondered the same thing when I posted those owners manual covers. I looked through each manual and didn't notice anything significant. Maybe one had wooden slats and the other Durawood?

I still have the LX series pamphlet that was printed in 1996 it lists all the features of the LX series grills.
Interesting is they had a 500LX and a 1000LX and a 3000LX but no 2000LX. Color choices were Black, Green and Maroon. The LX series used Durawood slats except for the 500LX had a wire lower rack. It also states that the durawood slats were made out of recycled plastic milk cartons. The only color available in the 3000LX was green. Don't know if this is significant but the LX came with two warming racks.
When I bought mine in 1998 the only place that carried them in So Cal was ACE. Seeing that I still have mine and it's been made into a 2000LX, I've kind of got a kit bashed Unicorn. Twenty two years old and looks and cooks like new.

Thanks for all the input from everyone! I've got progress pics and questions still. The handle for the hood . . . I'm not sure of sure the OG style only because I'm not sure if I'll be able to accomplish the beveled insert or go for the solid handle?? I also thought about going with a Weathered grey stain to match the matte side panels, but went with American Oak to contrast and pop with the Ol' Red hood! I liked the matte contrast with the frame and it added a little difference from what I've seen. (What do you think...good or bad??)
