What do you guys think of this deal

I ran across this surfing for older Weber's. It's a brand new never been used S 310 sidewinder. I noticed it said it had a ten foot hose so I figured it was a NG unit.
I shot him an email and suggested that he make that part of the title because there are a lot of houses up here with NG connections on the patio.
He responded and said that that was an error on his part and the grill was propane. He also asked me if I thought the price was fair. I really didn't know the positives are SS and new the negative it's at least 7 years old as Weber went to front controls in 2011. I told him I would leave it at least a week to see if he gets any offers.
Then he drops this bomb if it doesn't sell in a week he will drop the price to $250.
Now I don't need another gas grill but for $250 for a new S 310 is hard to say no to.
My thought would be to swap the manifolds from my NG E320 to the S 310 and I would have a brand new NG S310 and sell the E320 as a propane grill for $250 . Making the S310 Free.

What do you guys think?

I'd definitely do it for $250.

(sorry to be an enabler, but I love spending other people's money LOL)

But like you said, the projected net cost is $0.

He didn't show any inside pics sometimes people's interpretation of "new" means different things

I agree Larry, but in the emails he said he bought it new and it has never been fired up, never had a propane bottle for it. Sat in his garage all this time. I will inspect it before I buy it. He is only a few minutes from here. If it's true and it's been here in Prescott all this time rust won't be an issue at all.
He's panicked because it's getting close to the end of the grilling season here.

Rich,
I sure don’t want to be an enabler , but I have to admit a time capsule of that model IS pretty special. If it were the next model I would say “that’s alright I guess.” But for the E-W earlier version, well, “Wow!” Of course, you already know that from experience. I feel guilty saying to go for it when my own yard is overflowing, but...

At $500, given you have other grills, no way. (simply because there are others out there for less).

At $250, for something that is ready to go and needs zero work/restoration ... yes!!

If that grill were local to me, and $250, I would grab it. After seeing the way Weber cheapened the Genesis II and Spirit II, to me, an E-W higher end Weber in good condition, seems to be the sweet spot for buying. Sort of like people buying the last of the air cooled Porsches. A final shape air cooled Porsche is worth more than the newer shape with the water cooling.

It really only seems a matter of time before all the ''classic'' weber models get replaced with a disposable ''II'' version and lose their appeal.

I sold two rehabbed E3xx side control grills this summer. Both over $300. Your grill easily worth $250. If you don't want to use it, I would think you could turn around and sell it for a profit. His pictures and add don't do it justice. If he drops it to $250, it will sell in an hour...So tell him, when he is ready to accept $250 to call you and you will be right over. If it makes it to CL at $250, you will lose out.

This is assuming it is indeed new and unused.

YAHOO I got it for $275 pick it up Saturday. Comes with a new cover and a full bottle of gas that was filled when he bought it and never hooked it up.

Bruce, I just thought of something the two you rehabbed did they have side burners? If not did you notice if the manifold had a plugged fitting for a side burner. This may become a problem as I have to swap manifold's and will need to hookup the side burner on the e320. The one I'm getting is a e310.

I rehabbed two side control E3xx grills. One had a side burner. I don't recall noticing a plug for a second line. However, you could tap a new port or take it to a machine shop and have them tap it for you. It shouldn't cost a whole lot even if you have it done.
