Weber Grill Out Light #9057 on it's way

Yah, seems I learn something new about Weber grills or rehabbing every day I am on here.

Well, I was able to find not one, but two NIB Weber 9057 for $24.99/ea. plus $16 shipping. I ordered it from a place called Farm King in IL so yah they still are out there.

Jon/Bruce, I noticed you guys found the light bulbs on Amazon...are they pretty much the same one? If so then I'll probably order the one that Jon bought because it's a little cheaper.

Sam, the ones that Jon bought were nearly the same Lumen rating of the stock halogen bulbs. The advantage of those is you will get significantly longer battery life. The downside is less light to the grill grates.

Mine are much higher lumen rating. Mine have much more light on the grilling surface, but will drain batteries faster, probably close to what the incandescent bulbs would.

The extra light is a premium for me, so that is why I went with the higher lumen bulbs. Even with the lower power LED bulbs, you should get slightly more light than the incandescent a much greater battery life.

You just need to decide if battery life is your main desire or if you value the extra light more so.

EDIT: Oh, wait, if you are talking about the set that Jon linked to a day or two ago, then I would go with his for two reasons. They are basically the same as mine but a bit cheaper. They are rated a little higher lumen but same wattage. They are all from China and likely both made in the same factory to the same basic specs. But, if you are talking about the set that Jon bough a while back and since misplaced, then my original response applies to those lower power LEDs.

Weber 9056 is what Farm King calls it. I like these handles better

Yah, I purchased the last 2 9057s they had left and that's why it's not in stock on their site anymore (or no qty. on hand). It looks like they still have 3 of the 9056 still available.

I don't know how they'd mount w/o closer inspection, but I like them better b/c it appears the mounting would allow the handle to be straight out and farther away from lid than the 9057 which goes down if that makes any sense. (dont have any pics handy to describe).

How does the #9056 attach to the grill?

That was my question, too. I am guessing they still go in where the wood (or plastic) handle did, but it is a little hard to understand how. If someone gets one of these, it would be interesting to find out more.

Looking at the diagram, it would almost leave you thinking you are supposed to mount it directly to the hood. I can't believe that is right, though.

Other wise, maybe they screw into the hole for the handle.....the little plate is the nut that goes on the inside of the handle?

EDIT: On second look, that doesn't seem to be the case. It looks like the little rectangular plate is designed to fit at the base of the handle where it meets a flat surface. But, I cannot imagine how those little screws would fit on a grill end cap. I cannot imagine that they would expect you to drill into the hood. I cannot think of a grill that would easily adapt to that handle unless it is a Summit or something like that.

There is very little info on it on the web. I am guessing it was only in production for a short while.

Wow!

Well, I had enough Amazon points to get the pair of bulbs I referred to previously. I don’t know if they work as well as what Bruce got, but WOW what a difference from the regular bulbs that came with my 9057:

This is a big upgrade for my Skyline! You can even see the difference when it is only twilight.

Good job looks great how much were those bulbs by the way. Looking at a grill that has that light bar so curious.

I am sure those bulbs are very close to the same bulb as I had. Looks really good. Making me want to swap mine onto my grill.

Brian,

They were $16.99 for a set of TWO. They work great as you can see. You just have to put the batteries in backwards because of the polarity specificity of the LED bulbs. It is no big deal to do and makes this old style light as good a modern one. I don't think there are any other handles that really fit well with the classic Genesis, and one nice thing is that it puts your knuckles further from the hood which is one short-coming I feel the classic wood handle has.

They need a light like that for the WSM. I do much more cooking on it in the dark than I ever have on a grill.
However, I did finally get around to adding the #9507 to my blue lid. I couldn't resist seeing how it would look on the
Silver C that I recently restored. I have yet to post that grill yet. (With a red of black lid- the blue will NOT be sold)
Doesn't seem that I will ever find a 3000 so I may just end up keeping this Silver C after all.

I am seriously thinking of keeping it, and rotating lids occasionally. Blue, red, green, and the skyline.

Jon thanks that is money well spent since those batteries should last 3 times as long or more with the led lights.
